The "Zwick'l Kellerbier", Southern Germany

Hey beer friends out there! It's time for a complete new beer-experience I made recently. I happened to get the chance to taste a German "Kellerbier" - its name is "Zwick'l", brewed by a very old, traditional brewery in Bavaria, in Bayreuth.

Since I already very often wrote that I am a big fan of IPAs, this unexpectedly somehow matches my taste.

Look & Feel

As a typical dark "Kellerbier" wich can be translated as "Cellar beer" its color is amber-like and since that beer in its traditional brewing process remains unfiltered it is cloudy - wich I like very much at every beer anyway. The foam is white and not so dense, so it doesn't build a lot and desappears quickly.

Taste

Oh so nice!! When I love the fruity note in IPAs then here I loved the slight sweetnes of that beer. Not too heavy but still making it a very nice, light and not so tangy experience. Usually I don't recommend sweet beers for summer but in this case it definitely is best in these late summer patio-evenings with a soft breeze around my head.

Facts & Figures

The bottle contains half a litre and there is 5.3 % vol of alcohol, wich I consider mid-size. The bottle has got the same cool. old-fashioned lids with a "plopp" I already described with the Flensburger beer. Makes it somehow special.

Oh - there was only one minus in my beer tasting session: no ice cubes available. I'm so sorry guys ...

lol about the ice cubes!!!! 😂😂😂
This defiant sounds like an interesting beer, as I like amber beers most of the time. Not sure about the fruity and sweet aspect, but that depends on profound it is.
On the list for next time in Aachen!!! 😉

I usually also don‘t like sweet beers. But in this case it’s more „elegant“.

Then it is likely that I would appreciate it as well ;-) I'm not a big fan of beers like "Kriek" and such
