Altenmünster Urig Würzig - No label, no clue?

(Edited)

Funny story - I found that one left over beer from my sons birthday with no label on the bottle. Hm - what could that be? I started a research in google and found: it's correct! There are no labels on the bottle, only those tiny paper sealing that usually makes sure the bottle is fresh and unopened. But. First: turns out, all necessary information are on that tiny paper. Instead of a huge label in front and back of the bottle are beautiful imprintings with something that looks like the symbol of a church or an ancient building - maybe something traditional from the brewerys location Altenmünster.

A bottle without a label and of course an icecube-prepared glass 😉

The opening fun

Man - i do like that ploppy plopp of these old fashioned bottle lids! To open you have do grip the bottle firmly with both hands, press the thumbs against the metal brackets, close your eyes an press! Its kids greatest fun to do that whenever one of us is about to open a bottle like this. Somehow wunderfully terrifying not to know how loud the plop this time will be.

Plopp!

The beer

Lets come to the main content: the beer itself. The look is quite a light yellow color with a medium dense foam on top that disappears very quickly. Somehow I will never understand wether this is a sign of quality or not, but I always mention that because too long lasting foam really bothers me, especially when I am very thirsty.
As already described on the website the beer comes with a tangy, nutty, slightly hop-bitter taste that needs to be accompanied by some corresponding food like a mild cheese, some tomatoes or maybe also a mild ham & bread. I wouldn't enjoy that beer by itself only for thirst, but thats subjective and only my own taste. Its definitely rough and strong and I liked the nutty part of its flavours, but alltogether not my favourite.
