Top Hive Earners by Category | Authors, Curators, Witnesses, DAO, HBD Interest | February 2024

Ok, HiveSQL is back and running so its time for our regular program!

Hive has multiple methods to distribute inflation that helps its token distribution and stay decentralized. With the addition of the HBD savings interest there is now a total of six ways the inflation on Hive is distributed: authors, curators, staking, witness, DHF and HBD interest.

COVER

Here we will be looking at the overall inflation distribution for HIVE, looking at the following

  • Authors rewards
  • Curators rewards
  • Witnesses rewards
  • DHF/DAO rewards
  • HBD interest
  • Cumulative rewards

Top Authors

Here is the chart for the top 20 Hive authors that earned the most in the month.

image001.png

Note: These are not totally accurate numbers because there is a conversion on VESTS to HIVE, for simplification. Also some of the top beneficiaries like the hbdstabilizator, reward.app and 3speak are excluded.

I have made a breakdown in the author and beneficiary rewards.
Author rewards are one of the most know in the blockchain as a lot of users are attract for them.

@oflyhigh is on the top followed by @erikah and @cryptoandcoffee.

There are around 8.1k accounts that have received rewards in February 2024. The median payout is 13 HIVE, while the average is around 82 HIVE.

Top Curators

Here is the chart for the top 20 Hive curators that earned the most in the month.

image003.png

@appreciator is on the top here, followed by @alpha and @blocktrades.

The accounts above are the biggest curators on the Hive blockchain. Hope they will do a great job in curating and making this place grow.

Top Witnesses

The top witnesses’ earnings charts look like this.

image005.png

I have included more than 20 accounts in this chart to show the drop in earnings after the 20th spot. The top 20 are earning around the same amount of HIVE (HP), around 10k per month.

There seems to be a healthy competition among witness now, especially around the 20th spot.

The DHF/DAO Payouts

Accounts that received funding from the DHF/DAO in the period.

image007.png

DHF workers are paid in HBD, and the numbers above are in HBD.

A total of 16 accounts received funding in February 2024.

The @valueplan account is on the top here followed by @keychain, @peak.open, @leofinance, @vsc.network etc.

Note on the special @hbdstabilizer. I have excluded this account from the here, since it is dominant on the top, with almost 347k HBD received in the month, but since technically it’s not keeping those funds, it is excluded from the list.

Top HBD Interest Earners

Here is the chart.

image009.png

The @lazy-panda is on the top here with 22k HBD, followed by @newsflash and @alpha.

Top Earners Cumulative

From the data above we can compile the payout for a single ranking on overall top earners on the Hive blockchain in February 2024.

Here is the chart.

image011.png

Note: These are not totally accurate numbers because there is a conversion on HBD to HIVE implemented, and VESTS to HIVE, for simplification.

I have separated the different earnings for the top accounts accordingly.

The @valueplan account is on the top, followed by @appreaciator, @lazy-panda, @alpha etc.
Mostly DHF and curation accounts on the top, but some HBD interest accounts as well.

All the best
@dalz

I’m a witness. Please consider supporting me https://peakd.com/me/witnesses

P.S. Most of the Hivers want to check the author rewards so here is a longer table with the top 100.

It is interesting to see in the last graph how almost no authors appear and the only one that appears is Null. He didn't think Hive would burn so badly.

I think HBD earners might decrease if the price of HIVE goes on hiking.

Hopefully some of those top earners are at least disappointed with the amount of views their posts get and want to do things to bring those numbers up. I'm sure the money feels good but being on that list must feel awkward.

I will probably say ... dont blame the player blame the game ... there are no incetives in earning from views

And I'd probably say something like attracting thousands more interested and potential paying supporters would come with quite a few benefits. Perhaps there are no incentives earning from views, but there are plenty to be found when earning from viewers.

I give up...

Yea its in the interest of the stakeholders to spread the word, I agree :)

When people "spread the word" here, all they do is try to attract more content creators. Building a stadium, filling the stage with acts, then refusing to sell tickets and put butts in the seats. The role of the viewer/consumer/paying supporter is ignored 100% of the time.

And I've heard this story about there being no incentives to attract views. Then the "solution" offered is something like ad revenue. So they'll maybe place ads everywhere, not realizing that does nothing to attract viewers and acts more like a deterrent. "Good news consumers! We have ads now! So please come to our site and enjoy the content!" said nobody, ever.

Millions of people spend billions supporting content online each year. Millions can support content here with votes and watch their billions grow. Yet not one content creator here can see the value or feel incentivized to attract even one of those millions of people to their work? Generating buy pressure to outpace the sell pressure they create isn't appealing?

I'm a stakeholder. Will what I just said spread and click with people? Probably not. I've been pointing out the same problem and offering the same solution for nearly a decade, and now I give up.

It's always interesting to see Lazypanda up there and propped up by its massive HBD interest. I wonder if it will be overtaken by the others during the Bull market.

Seeing appreciator as the top curator is cool. I frequently see how high it curates some of the people I follow. But I still have no idea how to get on their radar. I don't think I've ever been curated by them haha.
