My first experience with Warhammer πŸͺ“πŸ—‘οΈπŸ”¨

If you are like me and looking to scratch the itch for a Diablo-style of game, then look no further than Warhammer: Chaosbane. This is currently included in the PS Plus Extra game catalog. So if you aren't wanting to dish out $70 for Diablo IV and the free-to-play Diablo Immortal isn't high enough graphic quality, then perhaps Chaosbane will be the game for you.

Warhammer: Chaosbane is an action role-playing video game that immerses players in the dark and fantastical world of the Warhammer Fantasy universe. Developed by Eko Software and published by Bigben Interactive, the game offers a gripping experience set within the iconic Warhammer universe, known for its intricate lore and epic battles. Chaosbane is set in the Old World, a realm plagued by chaos, where players take on the role of legendary heroes from various Warhammer factions, including the Empire, Dwarfs, High Elves, and Wood Elves, each with their unique abilities and playstyles.

The gameplay of Warhammer: Chaosbane is characterized by its fast-paced combat and immersive storytelling. Players can choose their preferred hero and engage in visceral battles against hordes of enemies, including iconic creatures from the Warhammer lore. The game offers both solo and cooperative multiplayer modes, allowing players to team up with friends to tackle the challenges together. As players progress, they can unlock new abilities, skills, and gear to customize their heroes, enhancing their combat prowess and adapting to different playstyles.

One of the standout features of Warhammer: Chaosbane is its attention to detail in capturing the grim and gritty atmosphere of the Warhammer universe. The environments are richly designed, showcasing the distinctive architecture and landscapes of the Old World. Additionally, the game delves into the intricate narratives that define the Warhammer lore, weaving a captivating story filled with political intrigue, epic battles, and the overarching struggle against the forces of chaos. With its engaging gameplay mechanics and faithful adaptation of the Warhammer universe, Chaosbane offers an exciting and immersive experience for both fans of the franchise and newcomers alike.

I had never played Diablo until I gave Immortals a try recently. It made me want to play a game like it on my PS5 console. I considered purchasing Diablo IV, but am convinced that I'd be better off waiting for a sale as I have for most new games in 2023. I have so many great games included with my PS Plus membership, so I don't feel the need to spend money on more games.

Enjoy this gameplay video and I'll be curious to know if any of you Diablo lovers have had any experience with Warhammer: Chaosbane.

Thanks for watching and be sure to drop any comments you may have down below, I will get back to everyone.

Looks very much like a light Diablo, a game I do like but it's too easy for my tastes. This is why I am keeping away from '4'.. at least for now. Will get it when it's much cheaper.

This game is pretty easy too, that is until you unlock the chaos difficulties after completing the main story. It has become so hard that I cannot even play it solo anymore and sadly there does not seem to be many people online to matchmake with these days. It does have couch co-op though, big plus in my opinion.

I do wanna get Diablo IV eventually, but it's going to have to be on sale for me to even consider it. I have many games waiting for me like that. Hogwarts Legacy and Star Wars Jedi Survivor to name a few. My guess is Black Friday deals will award us a really nice discount on many of these $70 titles.

Hogwarts Legacy was a stale feeling. It's polished but I lost interest quickly after I left the castle and entered the Forbidden Forest. Not started it up since.

I see many people hyping it, but I have a feeling they are just hardcore Harry Potter fans. I definitely don’t see it winning any major game of the year awards. It still has me curious, but likely will be a game that I play for awhile and never finish. That’s why I refuse to pay more than 20-30 dollars for it.

This game is said to be a Diablo-clone.

That's pretty much what it feels like. It's done really well though. Although the loot could be more inspiring. At least there is a good transmog system.

@zakludick look at this! Games Workshop expanding further into gaming and this game seems to be good, @daltono isn’t it? πŸ‘πŸ»

The game might be simple but at the same time, I think it’s fun and interesting. I’ve not seen Diablo gameplay before, is it this fun too?

I've been wanting to play more Warhammer games after playing Vermintide 2. Might have to give this one a go.

I can't say much about the story, but it is a Warhammer story, so if you like them usually I'm sure you will continue to. Hard to compete with Baldur's Gate 3 and Diablo IV. But if you're cheap like me, this will do.

Had high hopes for Darktide after playing Vermintide 2 but from what I heard it wasn't really too good. Also no friends to play with lol.

I tried Vermintide 2 and don't remember it honestly. Probably should play it some more soon. I just realized I also have Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr in my library. It's an ARPG similar to Chaosbane, just not quite as new & the name is quite the mouthful.

Awesome bit of playthrough my man! Welcome to the Old World! (Even if it was for an Elf 😜)

I myself am a tabletop player for Warhammer 40,000.

I have, over time, played quite a bit of the Warhammer Fantasy/40k PC and Console games, but yeah - none of them are quite like this one! Good job!

I know that the love for Warhammer lore must be huge. There are so many different games. Chaosbane was the newest one. I have Vermintide 2 and Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr in my library also, but I think it's going to be hard to play that older ARPG when I'm used to the latest and greatest with Chaosbane.

I have another video I'm working on where I maxed out one of my characters and am playing in one of the later stages of the game. Let's just say this game got me addicted for a solid 10-15 hours so far.

Awesome!

Yeah Vermintide 2 is also great, but it's more like Warhammer Fantasy Left 4 Dead.

Co-op, first or 3rd person hack n slash!

Well that sounds kind of fun actually. So it's a co-op game? Sounds like another one I may struggle to find people to play with.

When you play thr game online there is a way of getting connected with other online players that have characters of different classes as you.

So I played a Dwarf and never paired up with other Dwarves.

Yeah. Give it a whirl!

Didn't know this game was so much like Diablo lol. That's pretty cool I guess. Super excited for Titan Quest 2 to come out. Probably my favorite out of these kinda games.

Neither did I. I haven't ever even played a Diablo game besides Immortal on mobile. I guess I have a secret love for ARPGs that I had forgotten about. Now I'm wanting to try all sorts of different ones. I had never even heard of Titan Quest, I see that is a bit older now. Titan Quest 2 looks awesome though. May have it by the end of this year or early next year.

It's very interesting because this game is very similar to Diablo. Even as someone who hasn't played the game, I can tell you that. I wonder what the difference is between them.

I'm no expert on either game, but I think many would agree that Diablo has cooler loot than Chaosbane. More character types in Diablo also. Then there is the fact that you can easily find tons of people to play with in Diablo and Chaosbane community is kind of dead at the moment.

I played it for a while, enjoyed it, then it became routine and repetitious and I put it down. I like these styles of game but am not a fan of the fact that they appear to actually be designed to be a grind. I ended up with some sword or something the revolved around me constantly that would OSK almost anything I encountered.

Because of low server numbers I very rarely played multiplayer.

It was fun for a free game though.

It did get repetitive. Felt like you were going in the same dungeons over and over. They should have just used procedural generation. I took the time to max out one character and finish the story a single time, but from where I don't have anybody to play co-op with I think I'm done. I will have a Witch Hunter build video sometimes soon though.

I will say it was super easy by the time I reached lvl 50. That was until I finished the story and unlocked the Chaos difficulties. Holy hell those make the game ridiculously hard, impossible to play solo on high difficulties.

I don't recall if I ever unlocked the Chaos difficulties. I think at that point I was kind of bored with it as it started to feel like the only thing I was getting excited about was finding loot which just like in Diablo mostly results in disappointment anyway.

Glad I played it, but I didn't see much reason to continue for long during endgame play. Maybe it was different back when the servers were packed, but even many months ago when I was playing it, the lobbies were ghost towns and I wonder how much longer they will bother even having the servers running at all.

I got kinda tired of the game just before I reached lvl 50. I had to push on because I was curious about what the end game was like. I also have two DLCs that I could go back to, but I don't really feel like it right now.
The loot in this game is pretty uninspiring honestly. It was fun for 10-15 hrs and included in my membership, so I'm not going to complain too hard though.
