Did somebody say cosmic horror❓🪐👻

Source of Madness is a captivating and unique video game that seamlessly blends elements of roguelike gameplay, dark fantasy, and Lovecraftian horror. Set in a world plagued by a mysterious and malevolent force known as the Corruption, players are thrust into a realm where reality is distorted and sanity is constantly at risk. The game draws its inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft, featuring cosmic horrors and mind-bending landscapes that challenge players' perceptions. One of my favorite writers is Robert Bloch, so this caught my attention right away. The art style is both eerie and enchanting, with hand-drawn visuals that bring the nightmarish creatures and environments to life.

At its core, Source of Madness offers a procedurally generated experience, ensuring that no two playthroughs are the same. Players assume the role of a mage, wielding a variety of spells and abilities to combat the otherworldly monstrosities and eldritch entities that infest the world. What sets the game apart is its dynamic magic system, which allows players to combine spells in unexpected ways, leading to intricate and potent effects. This encourages experimentation and strategic thinking, as each encounter demands quick decision-making and adaptability. As players delve deeper into the Corruption-ridden landscapes, they must also manage their own sanity, as witnessing the horrors of the world can erode their mental stability, resulting in hallucinations and debuffs that further intensify the challenge.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Source of Madness is its focus on cooperative multiplayer gameplay. Players can join forces with friends to tackle the nightmarish challenges together, sharing their magical abilities and combining strategies to overcome the odds. The collaborative element adds a layer of social engagement and encourages communication, as teamwork becomes paramount in navigating the treacherous terrain and battling the cosmic terrors that lurk within. With its enthralling fusion of otherworldly horror, innovative magic mechanics, and cooperative dynamics, Source of Madness offers a gaming experience that is both deeply immersive and utterly unforgettable.

In today's video, I will be playing through some of the early stages of Source of Madness. This game just got added to the PS Plus Extra game catalog during the month of August 2023, but it is also available on many other platforms.

Thanks for watching and be sure to drop any comments you may have down below, I will get back to everyone.

I downloaded this one a few days ago. Gonna give it a try today. I bought Atlas Fallen and that game is pure garbage.

I honestly didn't love this one like I did Death's Door, Midnight Fight Express, and Dysmantle. Those 3 indies are all great and also on PS Plus.

You be paying full price for all the games. I just can't do that right now. Thought Atlas Fallen looked cool, especially with the coop. Knew it couldn't be as good as it looked though. Immortals of Aveum is another that I want to play but refuse to pay full price for. El cheapo I guess.

Atlas Fallen has some pretty cool combat, but the story is horrible. The voice acting sucks and it feels like it was written by AI or something. The bad thing is that I bought a physical copy of the game, so I cant return it. The only reason I bought it was because I was getting impatient while waiting for Armored Core 6 to come out. At least I only have to wait one more day for that one.

Impatience got the best of you. t least AC4 is about here.
But that really sucks. Guess that means Atlas Fallen be available in the bargain bin soon enough. If the writing is that bad, definitely wouldn’t surprise me if there’s some AI influence. This Black Friday better have some crazy good sales bc I have a lot of games I’ve been holding out for.

I think once Armored Core comes out, the only other games I will probably get this year is Starfield and Baldurs Gate. Those three games should take me months to complete.

I’ve been trying to sell my old PS4 and all of the stuff with it so I can get an Xbox for Starfield and Gears, but no luck so far.

It's the fusion of WARHAMMER 40K with DC's dark multiverse in the Lovecraft style cool although I don't like the horror genre as such I do value a good action genre.
More if it comes with intergalactic weapons 👽

Es la fusión WARHAMMER 40K con multiverso oscuro de DC al estilo Lovecraft chido aunque no me guste el género del horror como tal si valoro un buen género de acción
Más si viene con armas intergaláctica 👽

That's a vivid description. I love pretty much anything Lovecraftian, but this game was as mid as it gets.

I thought the graphic style looked good at first, but then once I played it I could hardly even look at the game. The menu UI is literally unbearable.

yea.. that's one nice looking game, but it does have that too detailed, too sharp, or perhaps to colors contrast? it for sure is a play for a bit then stop or else..

i used to play this awesome strategy game that was great looking and fun to play, but yea, my eyes would hurt after a session..

it's called vantage masters online. FREE to download (on PC) if u care to try.

I'm not big on strategy games to be honest, never have been. There are some great ones out there, but I can't get into them for whatever reason. Some art styles are just too painful to be staring at for hours. I'm spoiled with the supreme clarity of modern games maybe.

How I see this, it's a modern Castlevania for me. Graphics is much better.

There’s better options than this one if you’re looking for a modern Castlevania. Dead Cells and Blasphemous are two of my favorites.
