My 21st Instacart paycheck 💸 🛒

The rough weeks continue. There just are not enough good batches to keep me busy right now.

I'm going to be breaking down each day of work individually. Luckily, the Instacart Shopper app makes that extremely easy to do. Let's go ahead and get things started.

Monday, May 29th

Monday was Memorial Day, so I thought many more people than usual would be home and ordering some groceries. I had a decent amount of orders to complete by midday, but ultimately it was still somewhat of a slow day. Better than having zero batches though.

I made about $49.72/hr on this day.

All of my shops were painless with smooth deliveries. I'm happy with the result as long as I don't have stress throughout my day and I make a bit of money.

Tuesday, May 30th

No work because I had other plans.

Wednesday, May 31st

Wednesday was a shitshow. My whole morning was messed up. I was in the process of getting ready to go to the gym and then my apartment building maintenance showed up to fix a leak. They took a couple of hours and I didn't want to leave them here alone, so I waited around. By the time they finished, I had given up on the gym for that day in favor of hopefully getting some Instacart work in. Of course, though, there were basically no orders so I just wasted my time.

I made about $51.40/hr on this day.

The one order I did have was incredibly simple. This bakery ordered 8 containers of strawberries and 10 lbs of bananas. I was there in less than 20 minutes. Then I just played my Nintendo Switch in my car while waiting on another order for an hour or two. Very sadly, nothing came up for me to do.

Thursday, June 1st

Sad to report that Thursday was yet another completely dead day of work. I got started early and did not receive a batch all morning. I got one during the afternoon, but then no more for the few hours I was online after that.

I made about $51.40/hr on this day.

My hourly pay is really starting to not matter at all considering many days I can't even hit one full hour of work. I am dying to get out there is work, but there just hasn't been much to do. Hopefully, this weekend is different.

Friday, June 2nd

I tried something new Friday. Instead of my normal routine of starting Instacart as soon as I finished the gym, I decided to eat lunch and go to the pool for a few hours. I eventually got started with work around 3 pm. Usually, I quit by 6 pm, but this night I decided to work until 8 pm

I made about $32.27/hr on this day.

This was my worst hourly pay in quite some time, but still better than my old job. The hours though, they still just weren't there. I think the issue is there are too many shoppers and not as many orders as usual. I've been seeing all sorts of new people running around my stores with their phones in their hands searching for items. Most of them look totally clueless, but even if they suck they still are taking my potential batches. I guess I'm going to have to start slashing tires.

Saturday, June 3rd

I can at least say that I tried. I gave up pretty much my entire day to wait around for batches. I only ended up with three of them and none of them were particularly amazing.

I made about $33.17/hr on this day.

This was the hottest day I've worked so far. Almost 90°F and no cloud coverage. I did my best to find shade to park in, but I still had to put sunscreen on because I knew I would have gotten burnt otherwise.

Sunday, June 4th

Sunday used to be the best day of the week for Instacart no matter what. That just hasn't been the case lately. Most days are pretty dead and you never know which will end up being the best day of the week.

I made about $50.31/hr on this day.

Although I had the app online basically all of the daylight hours, nothing was coming up for me. There were a handful of absolutely ridiculous batches that I would have barely broken even on. I don't bite on that bs though.

End of week hours and pay 🤑

My weekly pay was about $235 and I barely worked over 6 hours. moretextmaybe

I made about $38.06/hr on average this past week.

As you can see, I didn't earn $100 any day this week. That used to be my goal, but now I'm having days where I struggle to even get past $20. Sucks that things have slowed down so much, but everything seems to go up and down infinitely.

I’ve been earning significantly less than usual for almost 2 months now. It’s getting to the point where I’m honestly considering whether finding something else to do may be a better use of my time. I haven’t given up yet though.
