Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night gameplay and first impressions
If you love Castlevania, you'll love Bloodstained 🩸🏰
I didn't grow up playing Castlevania, but I have learned to find ways to enjoy a well-made Metroidvania title. Bloodstained: Ritual of the night is exactly that. Since it is currently sitting on the PS Plus game catalog waiting to be played, I finally decided to give this gorgeous game a try.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a highly acclaimed action-adventure game developed by ArtPlay and published by 505 Games. Released in 2019, the game is spearheaded by Koji Igarashi, a renowned figure in the gaming industry and a key contributor to the Castlevania series. Funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign, Bloodstained captures the essence of classic side-scrolling action games, particularly the Metroidvania subgenre, with intricate level design, exploration, and a rich, interconnected world.
At the core of Bloodstained is the protagonist Miriam, an orphan afflicted by an alchemical curse that crystallizes her body. The game follows her journey through a gothic castle filled with demons and other supernatural entities. Miriam can absorb the abilities of defeated enemies, adding a layer of depth to the gameplay and allowing for various playstyles. The game received praise for its detailed hand-drawn art, fluid animations, and a hauntingly atmospheric soundtrack that complements the dark and immersive world.
With its deep lore, challenging enemies, and a plethora of weapons and abilities to discover, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night successfully recaptures the spirit of classic action-adventure games while adding modern design elements. The game is sure to resonate with fans of the genre, delivering a satisfying and nostalgic experience while introducing new elements to keep the gameplay engaging and relevant in the contemporary gaming landscape.
At first I wasn't sure about this game. It looked cool, but it didn't hook me. Withing 10 minutes I had changed my mind. As soon as I started absorbing demonic abilities and figuring out the timing for combat, it became apparent that it was an amazing game.
My first impressions video below will show you how much I enjoyed this. I look forward to further exploring this intricate and beautiful castle in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Thanks for watching and be sure to drop any comments you may have down below, I will get back to everyone.

How do you have access to so many games? This one looks cool, except for the weird music

It's a great game. I remember backing this game a few years ago before covid. It's definitely a successor to Castlevania Symphony Of The Night.
I had quite a bit of fun with it & am always pleased to find good games like this in the catalog.
I wasnt a fan of this game. I think i played it for about 30 mins before I lost interest in it. I used to play Metroid style games all the time on my Gameboy, but I just cant get into them on console. It did have a cool art style to it though.
I liked it, but it did start to get pretty difficult after an hour or so & then I just kept getting confused with the giant map. Wasn’t my favorite, but still seems like a good game for the right person.
This is one of the few games that I have played to completion in the past couple of years. I don't really game all that much anymore but because of the retro nature of this reminding me of my favorite games of my youth I found it very addictive and easy to stick with. I may go back and play it again actually because while it was challenging, I didn't find it unfairly difficult or anything like that.
The game is quite interesting mate, personally I don't play 2D video games, but there are some that have really caught my attention, titles like "Limbo" and "Inside". In fact I recommend them, I think you would love them, as they provide a very immersive experience, with suspense and mystery. Best regards!
