Ever Been Afraid To Smile? A Thank You to the Dental Volunteers

Hello fellow Hivers all over the world! Hope your day is beautiful just like your smile. A smile brings positivity from the start of your day. It brightens our day, and by smiling, we may support others through what they've been facing trials and problems in life. We don't know that our genuine smile allows others to thrive and inspires them despite the difficulties they have faced. There is a phrase that states, "LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE." Furthermore, Aristotle once said, "Laughter is a bodily exercise precious to health."

Before September ends, I just want to share this simple but full of gratitude message to the Cebu Dental volunteers during their Annual Free Dental Clinic/Mission here at Mantalongon Barangay Hall, Mantalongon, Dalaguete, Cebu. This activity is annually conducted during the last week of the month of September. This is through the efforts and cooperation of Mantalongon Barangay Council, IPI Foundation Inc. Mobile Dental Clinic, Cebu Veterinary Doctors (CVD), and with the active doctors and dentists on their dental team.

As I walk to the venue, I am amazed by the sight from afar. This captivating view catches my attention to have a photo with them. And as we arrive at the dental mission, there are people in line, and I get my number 43, and my brother is in 42, while my sister is on number 50 for teeth cleaning. They offer free extraction, pasta and cleaning. They also have free medicines specially for those undergone extraction of teeth It's an opportunity for those who can't afford the regular dental check-up due to its high cost. It's good to maintain our tooth dental health also. Because smiling is the best asset we have.

And there, they started at nine in the morning, and I was cleaned at noontime. I even heard a child crying during the extraction of his tooth.

I also patiently waited for my sister's turn so that we could head home together. She was absolutely waiting until the scheduled cut-off because the dentist and their group must eat lunch. My sister finishes at almost two in the afternoon. They also have free Sensodyne toothpaste after the cleaning session.

And as we walked closely to the door, we saw clients waiting for their numbers to be called. And as we're heading home, we stop by a bakery to buy some bread for snacks. They have delicious bread here, especially the banana loaf, one of my favourites. As you can see on their display, it looks delicious and is affordable. It only cost 5 pesos per piece.

And that's how productive and successful my day is. A big thank you to the Cebu Dental Volunteers for their wonderful mission of donating their expertise to the mobile dental clinic with a smile, empathy, and compassion.

May they continue to be a blessing to others.
