Discovering Hive: My Journey Out of Curiosity and Opportunity, An Introductory Post
My name is Ma. Aileen Besin, but @Daileen is favorable with me. I am 29 years of age from Cebu, Philippines. My tag name is Leen, some call me “Ms. Ai” with my colleague and some is “Dai Leen” for older than me but the common is “Leen”. I choose @Daileen as my username in this platform in short for DAIly and AiLEEN. Maybe I could update you daily with my activities just like my diary of how grateful I am.
(Teenage Level & Exploration)
A friend introduced me this platform HIVE blog and out of curiosity I grab it bearing in my mind maybe it’s an opportunity? Conscious of what to do and how can I grow in this community but somehow excited to meet friends where I can express and voice out my outside world through writing.
My 29 years of existence are a true blessing filled with childhood memories to cherish when I grow old. My primary education was here in Langkas, Dalaguete, Cebu. My high school days? I’m a shy type, small circles of friends – the so-called introvert nowadays. We are ten siblings in the family - a big family, as both of my parents had more siblings than we have. I grew with a well-disciplined and a loving family. Having them make us more comfortable to accompany with during family gatherings or some occasions. I was very dependent for my mother but that has ended when she passed away when I was on my youth. Her passing led me to become a sister and a foster mother to my siblings. I even made the difficult decision to give up my college years in order to help my father especially with house chores and for my family.
"A family that prays together stays together"
JOURNEY: SERVING WITH FAITH
Despite the decision of not finishing my studies, I made my youthful days enjoyable. I withstand my Catholic faith and became an active youth serving in the church and bringing those teachings or values it into home sharing with my siblings. I’ve given a responsibility in the church which is a Youth Coordinator. With different perspective in life I bring some young ones closer to God through serving and being an active parish youth council. I also decided to enter into a religious community which is to become a nun but it’s not my God’s calling. Up until now I continue my church service as an active member of ministry of lectors and cantors. I was once become a public servant in our barangay as a treasurer – a different kind of service life rooted in a community and taught me to the power of small daily acts of kindness, care and sacred responsibilities of public trust.
JOURNEY OF LOVE
Love comes in a mysterious way. At my young age 22, I tried on getting to know stage but it blossomed unexpectedly. From a long-distance relationship deepened into something lasting and sacred. Gifted with a husband, we exchange our vows in my 27th years. Our union has been a blessing full of surprises, but also a proving ground. He supported me with my college years but my dreamed of finishing my studies again has to an end. With the hardest decision and after much prayer, I choose to let go of my third-year college – painful as it was – trusting that God’s plan was greater than mine due to unforeseen condition of my health and my doctors advised me to prioritize my health. The early years of marriage taught us the delicate balance of health, faith and partnership and reminded us to lean into hope, not fear.
JOURNEY: CHALLENGES INTO HEALING
I was diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease later did I know when I was in my high school days. It didn’t stop me from living and dreaming, but it taught me to listen to more closely, to the rhythm of my body and to the quiet whisper of hope that God places in every breath. At first, it’s so hard to fight back holding onto the truth I know but later on I surrendered everything to God. When we were on the getting to know stage, problems arise my husband got a vehicular accident that was year 2021. A year after, we’ve encountered another vehicular accident. It was a frightening experience, yet it only strengthened our bond and reshaped our outlook in life. In the early month of 2024, my illness has worsened and in order to survive in years my doctor suggested that I should go for an open-heart surgery due to rheumatic and valvular heart disease. Other trials have come but it didn’t hinder us to face the truth. We surrendered once more - turned to Divine Providence for guidance and He answered our prayers. Recovery was a stark invitation that closed doors are not closed forever. God granted me another chance of life. Thankful for my third chances. With that gift came a renewed sense of purpose, and a deeper gratitude than I had ever known. With continuous healing and recovery and I survived my greatest trial.
