WondLa Season 1~Movie Review

Hi guys, this time, I'm here for an animated movie review. I'm not really an animated movie fanatic, but when I see a good one, I don't hesitate to watch it.
So this movie is called Wondla and the major thing that intrigued me into watching this movie is the name. Like I was asking myself: “What is wondla? Is it the short form for Wonder Land?” and so I downloaded it to watch. Mind you, I didn't know the movie had a sequel since there was no indication in the title to show. So I'll be doing a review on the first season.

PLOT SUMMARY
WondLa begins with the journey of Eva Nine, who is a 16-year-old girl that has spent her entire life in an underground house with her robotic guardian, Muthr. I always mistook that name for Mother. Well don't blame me, I'm not English. But I later learned that the name Muthr is the short for Multi-Utility Task Help Robot.
Eva’s life is basically a very simple one. She was homeschooled and practically was taught the basic rules for her to go by daily in that bunker she lived in. She however had zero human interaction. She has never seen the sky, a tree, or another person like her but just virtual simulations and Muthr's overly protective vibes.

Things begin to get chaotic when their underground sanctuary is attacked by a mysterious creature. Eva had to flee to the surface which she thought was earth.

However, she noticed that this surface looked nothing like the earth she saw in the history books she had read.
This place is called Orbona which is completely filled with aliens, wild creatures, strange-looking cities and no sign of humanity at all.

Eva eventually teams up with some seriously cool weird-looking creatures to travel across Orbona while she slowly unravels the mystery of who she really is and what happened to the human race.

MOVIE REVIEW

Personally, the animation is very clean and super pretty.
The movie is very much engaging. Like it's not really fast-paced but very emotional and that's what makes it stand out for me.
Eva doesn't really come out as the typical “chosen one to change things” kind of girl. She is very curious, very much brave, and at some times, she gets awkward but you find out that she is very relatable. Like she just wants to figure out her identity in this alien world. She just believes she has her kind out there in their numbers.

The movie is a whole sci-fi animated film, with big imaginations and a world that feels so fresh. If you're into sci-fi animated movies that don't involve fierce violence then this is for you.

And oh I can never forget my dearest Otto. He is a giant tardigrade that acts like a pet dog. He doesn't speak out loud but communicates telepathically and he also has this major emotional support energy.
Then there is Rovender who portrays this tough love that keeps the group from acting soft but brave.

Now I'm not saying the movie is perfect. Of course, there were glitches here and there; like some moments that felt a little too safe, where you're supposed to get scared but the humor just gets you and you can't feel a scare at all.

I'll give this movie an 8/10 since it makes me want to watch the sequel.

I leave you with the trailer
