Music is Life

Personally, music is something I hold so dear and the saying “music is life” is not a myth at all.
Music portrays beauty, it portrays sadness, identity, joy, personalities and what have you.

When I listen to music, I'm engulfed by the feelings that sound brings. I suck up the energy of that song and I'm given away. And don't meet me when my airpods are plugged in…its a whole new realm altogether.

There were times where I discovered my driver had driven past my destination and I had to pay extra to go back(Shaking my head🤦‍♀️)
I don't know if I'm the only one who experience this all the time. Music is deep and it reaches to the soul.

This morning, I was listening to “Wherever I may go” by Jake Etheridge and I found myself crying (hahaha) yea don’t mind me, I can be that dramatic.
Then the music switched to “Favorite girl” by Darkoo ft Rema and I got my waist swinging and feeling like a damsel. And the next minute I started feeling audacious just by listening to “Hehehe” by Rema.

I don’t joke with music. More reason I tend to notice every element portrayed in a single piece even when most artist practice culture appropriation. Well it’s something that can’t be helped in a country where everything goes.

Music has a way of bringing people together. I've had to organize music concerts, karaoke nights and even silent discos and believe me, people turned up.
Its something that allows us to express ourselves and not feel discriminated.
Its such a powerful tool that people tend not to understand and so they misuse.

While in the university, there was this group that called themselves “the Kegites.”
For some reason, I payed them no attention till I heard them play one day on our school general football field.
I got so entranced that I didn't know when I started dancing.
I had to look them up and ask questions and I discovered their origin and why they gave themselves that name.

Music has a way of transporting you to another time and place. It's a powerful trigger for memories and emotions. When I listen to music, I sometimes find myself reminiscing about past experiences and events(I dislike this part of music by the way) Music has a way of tapping into my emotions, giving me this happy, sad, nostalgic, or inspired feeling.

I once almost got into depression when I listened to “POS” by Sueco and “I’m a mess” by Babe Rhexa. It was something I had to consciously tell myself that this won't happen to me.
But never the less, research has shown that listening to music can reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and even alleviate symptoms of depression.
Music has also been shown to have a positive impact on our physical health, reducing pain and inflammation, and even improving cognitive function. So yea, not all types of music are hurtful.

Well this is me saying, don’t let anyone or anything stop you from having your own vibe. Let's keep listening, dancing, and singing along. Let's keep using music to express ourselves and feel good about our lives. Play some good music and be happy because everything will eventually get better.
