Do Not Disturb
Hi guys, it’s a pleasure doing this again this week. And every week the prompt gets more interesting.
This week’s prompt is geared towards Deep work and how focused we can be in a hyperconnected world, where we live in.
I personally think deep work is all about making sure I keep track of what I’m doing at the moment and not get distracted from it.
Honestly, it takes a lot of effort, especially in a world where distractions are just everywhere. But for some reason, my physical job has taught me to focus and be disciplined.
My job as both a personal assistant and an administrative assistant really requires me to multitask constantly.
When I first resumed the job, I was really overwhelmed. Multitasking frustrated me a lot because I’m naturally used to doing things one step at a time. So to help myself, I got some sticky notes and a small jotter I carried around everywhere.
With those items, I could actually write down every task I was given immediately so I would not leave anything out or forget anything important.
That little habit has helped me more than I would have expected. It has shaped how I approach everything else in my life. I have learned how to stay focused and keep my head in the game even when I’m really surrounded by distractions.
But I’m not gonna lie, sometimes distractions are just inevitable. And when they come, I deal with them in my own unique way.
For example, it will surprise you when you pick up my phone, and find no TikTok, Facebook, or even Instagram. People find that funny, but it’s actually one of the ways I keep myself disciplined. Those apps can be so addictive, and before you know it, hours are gone.
For me, staying off them is one of the most effective ways I can stay in control of my time and then focus on important things. Everyone handles distractions differently and that’s just what works for me.
When it comes to creative work like designing or writing, I try to be very much intentional about my focus level. I usually inform the people around me that I’ll be offline for a while, and then I put my phone on Do Not Disturb (DND) until I’m done. Sometimes I get so carried away in the flow of work that I lose track of time, so I set time frames to help me stay real balanced.
At the end of the day, deep work for me means being intentional, creating simple systems that help me focus and choosing discipline, even in a world that constantly encourages distraction.

Sometimes it is very hard to concentrate on our work with all the distractions around. Without deep work we cannot be master at what we do in life.
At all dear. We sometimes have to concentrate on a deeper level to be able to achieve some certain things.
