When tolerance is in place

Let me start by emphasizing a particular lifestyle in Africa.
Over here in my country Nigeria, one major thing we don't joke about is attaching respect to someone's name, especially when the person is older. Although this lifestyle is being shaken by the sharp civilization which has befallen us, this act is still being adhered to very strongly, and anyone that goes against it is seen as being stubborn or lacking manners.
Calling a senior by his name without attaching Mr. Mrs. Bro. Sist. etc is seen as a Taboo. I know this is totally different in well civilized Nations.

In the few companies I worked for to sort out funds for myself while I was still schooling, we were made to adhere to this rule of seniority and accord respect to the names of those who were older. I loved it so much because I don't know how I would have felt by calling someone as old as my dad by his name or not putting "sir" or "ma" whenever I wanted to respond to their talks.

It was just one firm where this law of seniority was ruled out, and it was really bad. Although it appeared simple due to tolerance, it was abnormal. I wonder how those elderly ones were able to cope with their names called without respect. That's tolerance for us.

Without it(tolerance), a workplace will struggle to progress. If the people easily pick offenses on things that are meant for jokes or if the setting has it that jokes are not welcomed, it's going to be too strict for the environment.

One day, I took my time to observe a particular radio station and I observed that they don't add the 'Mr.' or 'Mrs.' thing whenever they're calling the names of their colleagues. These are people I see on TV, and the staff have a mix of well-matured people and young guys. You see, elderly ones have to concur with the code of conduct in the organization and swallow their pride... that's tolerance. Even if they're not liking it, they just have to adjust and swallow the in-built pride.

Tolerance brings creativity between workers; if the people are not connected due to too much strictness such as seniority issues and that of hierarchy, it'll be very hard for them to be free to share and merge ideas when working.
I've been in a situation like this where the boss only takes his contribution as final and never listens to others. I remember there was a day my workplace was having electrical issues, which he(the boss) called an electrician to fix many times, but in all these, little faults were left out which I didn't bother to report to the boss because he always gave that bossy attitude.

When the big issue finally came out, I laughed inwardly while he was running helter-skelter to sort it out.
That is what lack of tolerance does; it creates a wide bridge between workers, which will remain like that unless something is done.

Thanks!

Some boss just over do, like they have just arrived, so you are nothing in their presence. But there are some that are good though and friendly. I know some of them behave like that cause some people missed opportunities because they talk to them freely they start to insult them, which is not good.

I really understand why you didn’t point out the little fault because of his bossy attitude
Some people are naturally bossy
Maybe that’s where you should also tolerate him
Don’t you think?
