Vivir con la mirada puesta en Jesús. || Living with our eyes on Jesus.

After the great event that impacted the world at that time, following the crucifixion, there was a Jewish leader of a prominent position among the Jewish people, Joseph of Arimathea, who asked Pilate for the body of the Lord Jesus.

When evening came, because it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath,[a] 43 Joseph of Arimathea, a noble member of the council, who was also waiting for the kingdom of God, came and went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. 44 Pilate was surprised that he was already dead. And having summoned the centurion, he asked him if he were already dead. 45 And when the centurion had informed him, he gave the body to Joseph, 46 who bought a linen cloth, and taking it down, wrapped it in the linen cloth, and laid it in a tomb that had been hewn out of the rock. He rolled a stone to the entrance of the tomb.

Joseph was very aware and understood very well the risk involved in asking Rome for permission to request the body and bury it, considering Jesus was considered a criminal who was condemned for treason against Rome. Joseph also knew that his status and reputation in the religious community would be affected. But let's note the following: Joseph had the great courage to come forward, while those friends who were close to the Lord fled in fear. This only gives us one conclusion: Joseph lived attentively waiting for God.

This sacrifice of Jesus Christ not only changes our eternal destiny, it also changes our daily lives from the moment we begin to understand and believe in this sacrifice of redemption. Jesus Christ allows us to live with great hope and anticipation. Yet, there are times when we don't recognize God as such or His presence, and we struggle to live with those expectations.

Let us remember John, Peter, and those women who contemplated the empty tomb. We remember that the Lord had told them in advance what would happen, yet they did not foresee his death. This shows us that, despite their disbelief and astonishment, they would not have expected such a situation to happen. Just like them, we must remember the word of God and recall everything God says through his word. Things do not always happen as we expect, but we must keep in mind what God says about the situations that occur.

Without Christ's sacrifice, we would have no hope today. Although it may be too difficult to live with hope and expectation in the reality each of us lives and in future situations, it is still the best way to live with hope placed in Christ.

Después del gran acontecimiento que impactó al mundo en ese momento, posterior a la crucifixión había un judío líder de una posición sobresaliente entre el pueblo judío, José de Arimatea le pidió a Pilato el cuerpo del señor Jesús.

Cuando llegó la noche, porque era la preparación, es decir, la víspera del día de reposo,[a] 43 José de Arimatea, miembro noble del concilio, que también esperaba el reino de Dios, vino y entró osadamente a Pilato, y pidió el cuerpo de Jesús. 44 Pilato se sorprendió de que ya hubiese muerto; y haciendo venir al centurión, le preguntó si ya estaba muerto. 45 E informado por el centurión, dio el cuerpo a José, 46 el cual compró una sábana, y quitándolo, lo envolvió en la sábana, y lo puso en un sepulcro que estaba cavado en una peña, e hizo rodar una piedra a la entrada del sepulcro.

José estaba muy consciente y entendía muy bien el riesgo que implicaba pedir permiso a Roma para solicitar el cuerpo y enterrarlo siendo Jesús calificado como un criminal que fue condenado por traición a Roma, José también sabía que su estatus y reputación en la comunidad religiosa sería afectada. Pero notemos lo siguiente: José tuvo el gran valor de presentarse mientras que aquellos amigos que eran cercanos al señor huyeron temerosos, esto solamente nos da una conclusión, José vivía atento a la espera de Dios.

Este sacrificio de Jesucristo no solamente cambia nuestro destino eterno, también cambia nuestro diario vivir a partir del momento que comenzamos a entender y creemos en ese sacrificio de redención, Jesucristo nos permite vivir con una gran esperanza y anticipación. Aún así hay veces que no reconocemos a Dios como tal ni su presencia y nos cuesta vivir con esas expectativas.

Recordemos a Juan, a Pedro y aquellas mujeres que contemplaron la tumba vacía, recordamos que el señor les había dicho anticipadamente que era lo que sucedería y aún así ellos no previeron su muerte. Esto nos muestra que ante su incredulidad y asombro no estarían esperando que sucediera semejante situación. Así como ellos nosotros tenemos que recordar la palabra de Dios y traer a memoria todo lo que Dios dice a través de su palabra, no siempre las cosas suceden como esperamos pero debemos tener presente que es lo que dice Dios acerca de las situaciones que acontecen.

Sin el sacrificio de Cristo hoy no tendríamos ninguna esperanza. Aunque puede ser demasiado difícil vivir con esperanza y expectativa en la realidad que vivimos cada uno de nosotros y las situaciones futuras, aún así es la mejor manera de vivir con la esperanza puesta en Cristo.
