Seguir al señor como discípulo. || To follow the Lord as a disciple.

When we learn to deny ourselves to follow the Lord, we inevitably open ourselves up to a great adventure in life.
24 A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. 25 It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they malign those of his household!
26 So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing covered up that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. 27 What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the housetops. 28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father. 30 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. 32 Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before others, I will also disown before my Father in heaven.
34 Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36 and a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household. 37 Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38 And whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
40 Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. 41 Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous person because he is righteous will receive a righteous person’s reward. 42 And whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple, truly I tell you, he will by no means lose his reward.

Let us always remember that salvation is by grace; it is a great gift from God that we receive through faith in Jesus Christ. This salvation justifies us before God, reconciling us to Him. We have no merit or ability to deserve this.
All that remains for us is to believe. Even after receiving salvation, we face constant decisions, such as: Do we follow Christ or live according to our own desires? Perhaps for some believers, living by faith is simply attending church and fulfilling a certain habit, but this simply causes us to miss out on receiving all that God has for us.
9 Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.
Matthew 24:9
The Lord never promised us that the path of faith would be easy. From the beginning, He made it clear that self-denial is necessary to make His disciples and followers. All of this implies some degree of suffering and sacrifice. Following the Lord means putting Him first, allowing Him to direct our every step, denying our desires that are not in accordance with His will for us. Sometimes it seems that what we prefer goes against what God desires for us, and these moments are very difficult. It is then that we must recognize God's wisdom and love, understanding that even if it seems irrational to us, God always has only good and blessings prepared for us.
Now, when we deny ourselves to follow the Lord's ways, even though it may seem that we lose something, on the contrary, we are gaining. There are times when suffering arises, but even then, the Lord fills us with joy and peace, overcoming any situation. It is important that we learn to seek the Lord's guidance and not our own desires. How do we do this? By seeking His direction through His Word as our guide.

Cuando aprendemos a negarnos a nosotros mismo para seguir al señor, indefectiblemente nos predisponemos a una gran aventura en la vida.
24 El discípulo no es más que su maestro, ni el siervo más que su señor. 25 Bástale al discípulo ser como su maestro, y al siervo como su señor. Si al padre de familia llamaron Beelzebú, ¿cuánto más a los de su casa?
26 Así que, no los temáis; porque nada hay encubierto, que no haya de ser manifestado; ni oculto, que no haya de saberse. 27 Lo que os digo en tinieblas, decidlo en la luz; y lo que oís al oído, proclamadlo desde las azoteas. 28 Y no temáis a los que matan el cuerpo, mas el alma no pueden matar; temed más bien a aquel que puede destruir el alma y el cuerpo en el infierno. 29 ¿No se venden dos pajarillos por un cuarto? Con todo, ni uno de ellos cae a tierra sin vuestro Padre. 30 Pues aun vuestros cabellos están todos contados. 31 Así que, no temáis; más valéis vosotros que muchos pajarillos. 32 A cualquiera, pues, que me confiese delante de los hombres, yo también le confesaré delante de mi Padre que está en los cielos. 33 Y a cualquiera que me niegue delante de los hombres, yo también le negaré delante de mi Padre que está en los cielos.
34 No penséis que he venido para traer paz a la tierra; no he venido para traer paz, sino espada. 35 Porque he venido para poner en disensión al hombre contra su padre, a la hija contra su madre, y a la nuera contra su suegra; 36 y los enemigos del hombre serán los de su casa. 37 El que ama a padre o madre más que a mí, no es digno de mí; el que ama a hijo o hija más que a mí, no es digno de mí; 38 y el que no toma su cruz y sigue en pos de mí, no es digno de mí. 39 El que halla su vida, la perderá; y el que pierde su vida por causa de mí, la hallará.
40 El que a vosotros recibe, a mí me recibe; y el que me recibe a mí, recibe al que me envió. 41 El que recibe a un profeta por cuanto es profeta, recompensa de profeta recibirá; y el que recibe a un justo por cuanto es justo, recompensa de justo recibirá. 42 Y cualquiera que dé a uno de estos pequeñitos un vaso de agua fría solamente, por cuanto es discípulo, de cierto os digo que no perderá su recompensa.

Tengamos siempre presente que la salvación es por gracia, es un gran regalo de Dios que lo recibimos por medio de la fe en Jesucristo, esa salvación nos justifica delante de Dios reconciliándonos con el mismo. En nosotros no existe mérito alguno o capacidad para merecer esto.
De nosotros solamente resta creer, aún así después de recibir la salvación nos enfrentamos a constante toma de decisiones como por ejemplo: ¿seguimos a Cristo o vivimos nuestros propios deseos?. Quizás para algunos creyentes vivir por fe es simplemente asistir a la iglesia y cumplir con un determinado hábito, pero esto simplemente nos hace perdernos de recibir todo lo que Dios tiene para nosotros.
9 Entonces os entregarán a tribulación, y os matarán, y seréis aborrecidos de todas las gentes por causa de mi nombre.

El señor en ningún momento nos prometió que el camino de fe sería fácil, desde un principio nos aclaró que es necesaria abnegación para hacer sus discípulos y sus seguidores, todo esto implica algún tipo de sufrimiento y sacrificio en alguna medida. Seguir al señor quiere decir ponerlo a él en el primer lugar permitiéndole que dirija cada uno de nuestros pasos negando nuestros deseos que no van acorde o en sintonía de la voluntad del señor para con nosotros, hay veces que pareciera que lo que preferimos va en contra de lo que Dios desea para nosotros, estos momentos son muy difíciles. Allí es cuando debemos reconocer la sabiduría y el amor de Dios entendiendo que aunque a nosotros nos parezca irracional Dios siempre tiene preparado para nosotros solamente el bien y bendiciones.
Ahora, cuando nos negamos a nosotros mismos para seguir los caminos del señor, aunque pareciera que perdemos algo, al contrario, estamos ganando. Hay momentos en que se presenta el sufrimiento pero aún así el señor nos inunda de gozo y de paz sobre pasando cualquier situación. Es importante que aprendamos a buscar la dirección del señor y no nuestros propios deseos ¿cómo lo hacemos? Buscando su dirección a través de su palabra como guía.
