We are living in times of great difficulty, but we must remember that God's faithfulness in times past has been unconditional. May this help us to fully trust in Him with our entire being.

After these things were over, the people of Moab and Ammon, and other Ammonites with them, came against Jehoshaphat to war. 2 And some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, "A great multitude is coming against you from across the sea, and from Syria; and behold, they are at Hazazon-tamar, which is En-gedi." 3 Then he was afraid, and Jehoshaphat humbled himself to inquire of the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout Judah. ​​4 Then the people of Judah gathered together to seek help from the Lord; and they came from all the cities of Judah to seek help from the Lord. 5 Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in the house of the LORD before the new court, 6 and said, "O LORD, God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? Are you not ruling over all the kingdoms of the nations? Is not power and might in your hand, so that none can withstand you? 7 Our God, did you not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it to the descendants of Abraham your friend forever? 8 And they have lived there and built you a sanctuary there for your name, saying, 9 'If evil comes upon us, the sword of punishment, or pestilence, or famine, we will come before this house and before you (for your name is in this house), and we will cry to you in our affliction, and you will hear us and save us.'" 10 Now therefore, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab, and the inhabitants of Mount Seir, into whose land You did not want Israel to enter when they came out of the land of Egypt, but to turn from them and not destroy them; 11 behold, they are rewarding us by coming to drive us out of the inheritance which You gave us to possess. 12 O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that comes against us; we do not know what to do, yet we look to You.
13 And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones, their wives, and their children. 14 And Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, was there; upon whom the Spirit of the Lord came in the midst of the assembly, 15 and he said, Hear, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat. Thus says the Lord to you: Do not be afraid or dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's. 16 Tomorrow you will go down against them; behold, they will come up the slope of Ziz, and you will find them by the brook, before the Desert of Jeruel. 17 There will be no need for you to fight in this matter; stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you. O Judah and Jerusalem, do not be afraid or dismayed; go out tomorrow against them, for the Lord will be with you.
18 Then Jehoshaphat bowed himself with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell prostrate before the Lord and worshiped the Lord. 19 Then the Levites, the Kohathites and the Korahites, stood up and praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with a loud voice.
20 And when they got up early in the morning, they went out to the Desert of Tekoa. And as they were going out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established; believe his prophets, and you will prosper. 21 And he took counsel with the people and appointed some who were to sing and praise the Lord, dressed in sacred ornaments, while the armed men were going out, and to say, "Glorify the Lord, for his loving-kindness is forever." 22 And when they began to sing songs of praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, from among themselves, who came against Judah, and they killed one another. 23 For the children of Ammon and Moab rose up against the people of Mount Seir to kill and destroy them; and when they had destroyed the people of Mount Seir, each one helped to destroy his neighbor. 24 When Judah came to the tower in the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude, and behold, they were lying dead on the ground, for not one had escaped. 25 Then Jehoshaphat and his people came to strip them, and found among the dead bodies much treasure, both clothing and precious jewelry, which they took for themselves, so much that they could not carry it. They spent three days gathering the plunder, for it was so much.

2 Chronicles 20:1-25

After reading this text and this fragment of history, God seeks to encourage us. Although it is a little difficult to understand the moment in which Jehoshaphat praised God and in which he presented his petition, in the midst of this situation that was a sure defeat, Jehoshaphat still worshipped God.

Es que vivimos tiempos de gran dificultad, pero debemos recordar que la fidelidad de Dios en tiempos pasados ha sido incondicional, que esto nos ayude a confiar plenamente en él con todo nuestro ser.

Pasadas estas cosas, aconteció que los hijos de Moab y de Amón, y con ellos otros de los amonitas, vinieron contra Josafat a la guerra. 2 Y acudieron algunos y dieron aviso a Josafat, diciendo: Contra ti viene una gran multitud del otro lado del mar, y de Siria; y he aquí están en Hazezon-tamar, que es En-gadi. 3 Entonces él tuvo temor; y Josafat humilló su rostro para consultar a Jehová, e hizo pregonar ayuno a todo Judá. 4 Y se reunieron los de Judá para pedir socorro a Jehová; y también de todas las ciudades de Judá vinieron a pedir ayuda a Jehová.
5 Entonces Josafat se puso en pie en la asamblea de Judá y de Jerusalén, en la casa de Jehová, delante del atrio nuevo; 6 y dijo: Jehová Dios de nuestros padres, ¿no eres tú Dios en los cielos, y tienes dominio sobre todos los reinos de las naciones? ¿No está en tu mano tal fuerza y poder, que no hay quien te resista? 7 Dios nuestro, ¿no echaste tú los moradores de esta tierra delante de tu pueblo Israel, y la diste a la descendencia de Abraham tu amigo para siempre? 8 Y ellos han habitado en ella, y te han edificado en ella santuario a tu nombre, diciendo: 9 Si mal viniere sobre nosotros, o espada de castigo, o pestilencia, o hambre, nos presentaremos delante de esta casa, y delante de ti (porque tu nombre está en esta casa), y a causa de nuestras tribulaciones clamaremos a ti, y tú nos oirás y salvarás. 10 Ahora, pues, he aquí los hijos de Amón y de Moab, y los del monte de Seir, a cuya tierra no quisiste que pasase Israel cuando venía de la tierra de Egipto, sino que se apartase de ellos, y no los destruyese; 11 he aquí ellos nos dan el pago viniendo a arrojarnos de la heredad que tú nos diste en posesión. 12 ¡Oh Dios nuestro! ¿no los juzgarás tú? 13 Y todo Judá estaba en pie delante de Jehová, con sus niños y sus mujeres y sus hijos. 14 Y estaba allí Jahaziel hijo de Zacarías, hijo de Benaía, hijo de Jeiel, hijo de Matanías, levita de los hijos de Asaf, sobre el cual vino el Espíritu de Jehová en medio de la reunión; 15 y dijo: Oíd, Judá todo, y vosotros moradores de Jerusalén, y tú, rey Josafat. Jehová os dice así: No temáis ni os amedrentéis delante de esta multitud tan grande, porque no es vuestra la guerra, sino de Dios. 16 Mañana descenderéis contra ellos; he aquí que ellos subirán por la cuesta de Sis, y los hallaréis junto al arroyo, antes del desierto de Jeruel. 17 No habrá para qué peleéis vosotros en este caso; paraos, estad quietos, y ved la salvación de Jehová con vosotros. Oh Judá y Jerusalén, no temáis ni desmayéis; salid mañana contra ellos, porque Jehová estará con vosotros.
18 Entonces Josafat se inclinó rostro a tierra, y asimismo todo Judá y los moradores de Jerusalén se postraron delante de Jehová, y adoraron a Jehová. 19 Y se levantaron los levitas de los hijos de Coat y de los hijos de Coré, para alabar a Jehová el Dios de Israel con fuerte y alta voz.
20 Y cuando se levantaron por la mañana, salieron al desierto de Tecoa. Y mientras ellos salían, Josafat, estando en pie, dijo: Oídme, Judá y moradores de Jerusalén. Creed en Jehová vuestro Dios, y estaréis seguros; creed a sus profetas, y seréis prosperados. 21 Y habido consejo con el pueblo, puso a algunos que cantasen y alabasen a Jehová, vestidos de ornamentos sagrados, mientras salía la gente armada, y que dijesen: Glorificad a Jehová, porque su misericordia es para siempre. 22 Y cuando comenzaron a entonar cantos de alabanza, Jehová puso contra los hijos de Amón, de Moab y del monte de Seir, las emboscadas de ellos mismos que venían contra Judá, y se mataron los unos a los otros. 23 Porque los hijos de Amón y Moab se levantaron contra los del monte de Seir para matarlos y destruirlos; y cuando hubieron acabado con los del monte de Seir, cada cual ayudó a la destrucción de su compañero.
24 Y luego que vino Judá a la torre del desierto, miraron hacia la multitud, y he aquí yacían ellos en tierra muertos, pues ninguno había escapado. 25 Viniendo entonces Josafat y su pueblo a despojarlos, hallaron entre los cadáveres muchas riquezas, así vestidos como alhajas preciosas, que tomaron para sí, tantos, que no los podían llevar; tres días estuvieron recogiendo el botín, porque era mucho.

2 Crónicas 20:1-25

Después de leer este texto y este fragmento de la historia, Dios busca alentarnos. Si bien es un poco difícil entender el momento en que Josafat alabo a Dios y en el que presentó su petición, en medio de de esta situación que era una derrota segura igualmente Josafat adoro a Dios.

El rey Josafat recordó las victorias del pasado y motivó al pueblo a glorificar a Dios por las proezas del pasado. Al enfocarse en Dios y de esas proezas, los israelitas trajeron la memoria nuevamente como Dios había intervenido en los tiempos anteriores. Éste fue el deseo de Josafat y lo que deseaba que ellos hicieron y así enseñar a sus hijos acerca de sus camino para que en su vida honren a Dios, esto a su vez llena de valentía y sobretodo fortalecer la fe de los oyentes.

7 y las repetirás a tus hijos, y hablarás de ellas estando en tu casa, y andando por el camino, y al acostarte, y cuando te levantes.

Deuteronomio 6:7

Esta alabanza por parte de todo el pueblo abrió camino para la dependencia total de Dios. Humanamente es imposible que un ejército tan pequeño derrotará a la gran fuerza del enemigo. Sin embargo el pueblo de Dios estaba inmerso en adoración a Dios y de esa manera reconocía su debilidad pero a la vez esperaba la intervención divina de Dios que con total certeza sabrían que les daría la victoria. Dios les dio una solución: no hacer nada, en obediencia a Dios el pueblo se preparó para ir en contra de toda lógica.

Dios está siempre dispuesto a llevarnos a la victoria, aún cuando no entendemos que es la victoria pero tenemos la plena certeza y seguridad que él nos dará siempre lo mejor, nosotros debemos dirigir nuestra mente y nuestro corazón hacia él y en ampliará nuestra visión acerca de todas las cosas sobre todo de quién es él y de lo que puede hacer por nosotros. ¿Existen dudas?.
