We remember the apostle Paul, who has written several letters in the worst place a person could wish to be. He sent the letters to young churches with the sole purpose of instructing them on how to live in a way that pleases the Lord.

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 And walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
3 But let not fornication or any uncleanness or covetousness be so much as named among you, as is fitting among saints. 4 Neither filthy talk nor foolishness nor jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5 For you know this, that no fornicator, unclean person, or covetous person—an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not share with them. 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, justice, and truth), 10 testing what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 And do not share in the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them; 12 for it is shameful even to speak of the things they do in secret. 13 But all things, when they are exposed by the light, are made manifest, for it is light that makes all things manifest. 14 Therefore it says,
Awake, you who sleep,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will give you light.
15 Therefore be careful how you live, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to excess, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:1-21

Paul shows us two opposing ways of living: one the path of darkness and the other the path of light. In one of these ways, he points out immorality, greed, and impurity, which are fundamental characteristics of walking this path. He contrasts it directly with the fruit of the Spirit, which is everything that pleases the Lord and somehow leads us to a full life, in perfect harmony and communion with the Lord and with men. The message is very clear and precise.

Paul is very specific and speaks to us about imitating Christ, who offered himself as a sacrificial offering and a fragrant aroma before God. This is our example and invites us, in a way, to renounce things that prevent us from walking as children of light. The apostle also exhorts us not only to have worthy behavior, but also an attitude and, above all, language that expresses our condition as children of God, speaking with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.

Let us take all these examples that the apostle Paul presents to this church on this occasion, let us take them as a direct recommendation for each one of us and that this will elevate us even more as children of God to live in fullness of life here on earth pleasing God and men.

Recordamos a la apóstol Pablo quien ha escrito varias cartas en el peor lugar que una persona quisiera estar, envío las cartas a iglesias jóvenes con el puro propósito de instruir la de cómo vivir de manera que agrade al señor.

Sed, pues, imitadores de Dios como hijos amados. 2 Y andad en amor, como también Cristo nos amó, y se entregó a sí mismo por nosotros, ofrenda y sacrificio a Dios en olor fragante.
3 Pero fornicación y toda inmundicia, o avaricia, ni aun se nombre entre vosotros, como conviene a santos; 4 ni palabras deshonestas, ni necedades, ni truhanerías, que no convienen, sino antes bien acciones de gracias. 5 Porque sabéis esto, que ningún fornicario, o inmundo, o avaro, que es idólatra, tiene herencia en el reino de Cristo y de Dios. 6 Nadie os engañe con palabras vanas, porque por estas cosas viene la ira de Dios sobre los hijos de desobediencia. 7 No seáis, pues, partícipes con ellos. 8 Porque en otro tiempo erais tinieblas, mas ahora sois luz en el Señor; andad como hijos de luz 9 (porque el fruto del Espíritu es en toda bondad, justicia y verdad), 10 comprobando lo que es agradable al Señor. 11 Y no participéis en las obras infructuosas de las tinieblas, sino más bien reprendedlas; 12 porque vergonzoso es aun hablar de lo que ellos hacen en secreto. 13 Mas todas las cosas, cuando son puestas en evidencia por la luz, son hechas manifiestas; porque la luz es lo que manifiesta todo. 14 Por lo cual dice:
Despiértate, tú que duermes,
Y levántate de los muertos,
Y te alumbrará Cristo.
15 Mirad, pues, con diligencia cómo andéis, no como necios sino como sabios, 16 aprovechando bien el tiempo, porque los días son malos. 17 Por tanto, no seáis insensatos, sino entendidos de cuál sea la voluntad del Señor. 18 No os embriaguéis con vino, en lo cual hay disolución; antes bien sed llenos del Espíritu, 19 hablando entre vosotros con salmos, con himnos y cánticos espirituales, cantando y alabando al Señor en vuestros corazones; 20 dando siempre gracias por todo al Dios y Padre, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

Efesios 5.1-21

Pablo nos muestra dos maneras opuestas de vivir uno el camino de la oscuridad y otro el camino de la luz, en uno de los caminos señala la inmoralidad, la codicia y la impureza que son características fundamentales de andar en este camino, contrastado directamente con el fruto del espíritu que es todo lo que agrada al señor y lo que de alguna manera nos conduce a una vida plena, en perfecta armonía y comunión con el Señor y con los hombres, el mensaje es muy claro y preciso.

Pablo es muy específico y nos habla de imitar a Cristo quien se ha ofrecido como una ofrenda de sacrificio y olor fragante delante de Dios, este nuestro ejemplo y nos invita de alguna manera a renunciar a cosas que no nos permiten andar como hijos de luz, el apóstol también nos exhorta a tener no solamente un comportamiento digno, también una actitud y sobretodo un lenguaje que exprese nuestra condición de hijo de Dios, hablando con salmos, himnos y cánticos espirituales.

Tomemos todos estos ejemplos que en esta oportunidad del apóstol Pablo presenta a esta iglesia, tomemos como una recomendación directa para cada uno de nosotros y que esto nos elevará aún más como hijos de Dios para vivir en plenitud de vida aquí en la tierra agradando a Dios y a los hombres.
