La expectativas que tenemos en base a las promesas de Dios. || The expectations we have based on God's promises.

Even when we serve God and nothing seems to be as we expected, we have the privilege of waiting on God's faithfulness and love.

The children of Israel again did evil in the sight of Jehovah; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years. 2 And there was a man from Zorah, of the tribe of Dan, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and she had never had children. 3 The angel of the LORD appeared to this woman and said, Behold, you are barren, and have never had children; but you will conceive and give birth to a son. 4 Now therefore do not drink wine or strong drink, nor eat anything unclean. 5 For behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son; and no razor will pass on his head, because the child will be a Nazarite to God from his birth, and he will begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines. 6 And the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came to me, whose appearance was like the appearance of an angel of God, greatly feared; and I did not ask him where he was from or who he was, nor did he tell me his name. 7 And he said to me, Behold, you will conceive and bear a son; Therefore now do not drink wine or strong drink or eat anything unclean, for this child will be a Nazarite to God from his birth until the day of his death.
8 Then Manoah prayed to the LORD, and said, Ah, my Lord, I pray thee, that the man of God whom thou hast sent, may now come again to us, and teach us what we should do with the child that is to be born. 9 And God heard the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God returned again to the woman, while she was in the field; But her husband Manoah was not with her. 10 And the woman ran quickly to tell her husband, saying, Look, that man who came to me the other day has appeared to me. 11 And Manoah arose, and followed his wife; and he came to the man and said to him, Are you that man who spoke to the woman? And he said: I am. 12 Then Manoah said, When your words come true, what should the child's way of life be, and what should we do with him? 13 And the angel of the LORD said to Manoah, The woman shall keep from all that I told her. 14 she will not take anything that comes from the vine; she shall not drink wine or strong drink, and she shall not eat any unclean thing; She will keep everything I commanded her.
15 Then Manoah said to the angel of the LORD, Please allow us to detain you, and we will prepare a kid for you. 16 And the angel of the LORD said to Manoah, Even if you stop me, I will not eat your bread; But if you want to make a burnt offering, offer it to the Lord. And Manoah did not know that he was an angel of the Lord. 17 Then Manoah said to the angel of the LORD, What is your name, that when your word is fulfilled we may honor you? 18 And the angel of the LORD answered, Why do you ask about my name, which is admirable? 19 And Manoah took a goat and an offering, and offered them on a rock to the Lord; and the angel performed a miracle in the eyes of Manoah and his wife. 20 For it came to pass, as the flame ascended from the altar toward heaven, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar before the eyes of Manoah and his wife, and they bowed down to the ground.
21 And the angel of the LORD did not appear again to Manoah or to his wife. Then he knew Manoah, who was the angel of the Lord. 22 And Manoah said to his wife, We will surely die, because we have seen God. 23 And his wife answered him, If the LORD wanted to kill us, he would not accept the burnt offering and the offering at our hands, nor would he have shown us all these things, nor would he now have announced this to us. 24 And the woman gave birth to a son, and she named him Samson. And the child grew, and the Lord blessed him. 25 And the Spirit of the Lord began to manifest itself in him in the camps of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

Judges 13

This is a beautiful story that we need to read in full, in this passage the angel brings beautiful news to Manoah whose woman was barren, she would have a son and he would be set apart to serve God and would free the people . After that kind of news perhaps she imagined that after her birth she would have a life of happiness and only blessings not only for herself but also for her child. She and her husband according to God's plan and the angel's directives taught Samson to live like a true Nazarite following all the guidelines for it.

But still not everything happened as they had dreamed, especially Samson's life. Even though he had been raised under God's guidelines, living a totally restricted and secluded life, he developed incredible strength. At one point he became involved with pagan women, at one point a woman named Delilah who was a Philistine and whom he loved, Samson confessed. The secret of his strength was through the Nazarite vow and this was also why his hair was not cut.

For this, Delilah cut his hair and betrayed him by handing him over to the Philistines, that is, the woman intervened or rather wanted to intervene in God's plans, but God, even when Samson's vow was broken, allows him to recover.

Aun cuando servimos a Dios y nada parece ser como esperábamos, tenemos el privilegio de esperar en la fidelidad y amor de Dios.

Los hijos de Israel volvieron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová; y Jehová los entregó en mano de los filisteos por cuarenta años. 2 Y había un hombre de Zora, de la tribu de Dan, el cual se llamaba Manoa; y su mujer era estéril, y nunca había tenido hijos. 3 A esta mujer apareció el ángel de Jehová, y le dijo: He aquí que tú eres estéril, y nunca has tenido hijos; pero concebirás y darás a luz un hijo. 4 Ahora, pues, no bebas vino ni sidra, ni comas cosa inmunda. 5 Pues he aquí que concebirás y darás a luz un hijo; y navaja no pasará sobre su cabeza, porque el niño será nazareo a Dios desde su nacimiento, y él comenzará a salvar a Israel de mano de los filisteos. 6 Y la mujer vino y se lo contó a su marido, diciendo: Un varón de Dios vino a mí, cuyo aspecto era como el aspecto de un ángel de Dios, temible en gran manera; y no le pregunté de dónde ni quién era, ni tampoco él me dijo su nombre. 7 Y me dijo: He aquí que tú concebirás, y darás a luz un hijo; por tanto, ahora no bebas vino, ni sidra, ni comas cosa inmunda, porque este niño será nazareo a Dios desde su nacimiento hasta el día de su muerte.
8 Entonces oró Manoa a Jehová, y dijo: Ah, Señor mío, yo te ruego que aquel varón de Dios que enviaste, vuelva ahora a venir a nosotros, y nos enseñe lo que hayamos de hacer con el niño que ha de nacer. 9 Y Dios oyó la voz de Manoa; y el ángel de Dios volvió otra vez a la mujer, estando ella en el campo; mas su marido Manoa no estaba con ella. 10 Y la mujer corrió prontamente a avisarle a su marido, diciéndole: Mira que se me ha aparecido aquel varón que vino a mí el otro día. 11 Y se levantó Manoa, y siguió a su mujer; y vino al varón y le dijo: ¿Eres tú aquel varón que habló a la mujer? Y él dijo: Yo soy. 12 Entonces Manoa dijo: Cuando tus palabras se cumplan, ¿cómo debe ser la manera de vivir del niño, y qué debemos hacer con él? 13 Y el ángel de Jehová respondió a Manoa: La mujer se guardará de todas las cosas que yo le dije. 14 No tomará nada que proceda de la vid; no beberá vino ni sidra, y no comerá cosa inmunda; guardará todo lo que le mandé.
15 Entonces Manoa dijo al ángel de Jehová: Te ruego nos permitas detenerte, y te prepararemos un cabrito. 16 Y el ángel de Jehová respondió a Manoa: Aunque me detengas, no comeré de tu pan; mas si quieres hacer holocausto, ofrécelo a Jehová. Y no sabía Manoa que aquel fuese ángel de Jehová. 17 Entonces dijo Manoa al ángel de Jehová: ¿Cuál es tu nombre, para que cuando se cumpla tu palabra te honremos? 18 Y el ángel de Jehová respondió: ¿Por qué preguntas por mi nombre, que es admirable? 19 Y Manoa tomó un cabrito y una ofrenda, y los ofreció sobre una peña a Jehová; y el ángel hizo milagro ante los ojos de Manoa y de su mujer. 20 Porque aconteció que cuando la llama subía del altar hacia el cielo, el ángel de Jehová subió en la llama del altar ante los ojos de Manoa y de su mujer, los cuales se postraron en tierra.
21 Y el ángel de Jehová no volvió a aparecer a Manoa ni a su mujer. Entonces conoció Manoa que era el ángel de Jehová. 22 Y dijo Manoa a su mujer: Ciertamente moriremos, porque a Dios hemos visto. 23 Y su mujer le respondió: Si Jehová nos quisiera matar, no aceptaría de nuestras manos el holocausto y la ofrenda, ni nos hubiera mostrado todas estas cosas, ni ahora nos habría anunciado esto. 24 Y la mujer dio a luz un hijo, y le puso por nombre Sansón. Y el niño creció, y Jehová lo bendijo. 25 Y el Espíritu de Jehová comenzó a manifestarse en él en los campamentos de Dan, entre Zora y Estaol.

Jueces 13

Esta es una hermosa historia que es necesario que leamos completa, en este pasaje el ángel trae noticias lindas a la cosa de Manoa cucha mujer era estéril, ella tendría un hijo y sería apartado para servir a Dios y liberaría al pueblo. Después de ese tipo de noticia quizás ella imagino que posterior al nacimiento tendría una vida de felicidad y solamente bendiciones no solamente para ella sino también para su hijo. Ella y su esposo conforme al plan de Dios y directivas del ángel enseñaron a Sanson a vivir como un verdadero Nazáreo siguiendo todas las pautas para ello.

Pero aún así no todo sucedió como habían soñado, sobre todo la vida de Sansón. Aún cuando éste había sido criado bajo los lineamientos de Dios una vida totalmente restricto y apartada, desarrolló una fuerza increíble, en un momento determinado se involucró con mujeres paganas, en un momento a una mujer llamada Dalila que era filisteo y a quien amaba, Sansón confesó el secreto de su fuerza y era mediante el voto Nazareo y esto era también a causa de qué su cabello no era cortado.

Para esto Dalila le cortó el cabello y lo traicionó entregándole a los filisteos es decir la mujer intervino o mejor dicho quiso intervenir en los planes de Dios pero Dios aún cuando fue quebrado el voto de Sansón permite que recupere sus fuerzas y cumple con la promesa de liberar al pueblo.

Toda esta historia viéndolo desde la fidelidad de los padres de Sansón nos recuerda que nosotros no podemos influir o predecir sobre los acontecimientos futuros pero si tenemos la posibilidad y capacidad de aferrarnos a las promesas de Dios, permanecer firmes para siempre. Aunque el futuro que que deseamos no sea tal cual lo soñamos podemos confiar en el amor y poder de Dios en que mientras estemos aferrados a sus promesas Dios cumplirá todo lo que ha prometido.
