The word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time, saying: 2 Get up and go to Nineveh, that great city, and proclaim there the message that I will tell you. 3 And Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh according to the word of the Lord. And Nineveh was an extremely large city, three days' journey away. 4 And Jonah began to enter the city, a day's journey, and he preached, saying, In forty days Nineveh will be destroyed. 5 And the men of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least of them.
6 And the news reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his seat, took off his garment, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and announced in Nineveh, by order of the king and his nobles, saying: Men and animals, oxen and sheep, do not taste anything; Do not give them food, nor drink water; 8 But let men and animals cover themselves with sackcloth, and cry loudly to God; and let every man turn from his evil way, from the plunder that is in his hands. 9 Who knows whether God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, and we will not perish?
10 And God saw what they did, that they turned from their evil way; and he repented of the evil which he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.

Jonah 3.

Jonah was very afraid of those who were a threat to the Jews, the inhabitants of Nineveh, above all the fear was that they would repent of their evil ways and God would choose not to destroy him, there we see the reason why Jonah He wanted to see the Ninevites completely destroyed.

2 And he prayed to the LORD and said: Now, O LORD, is this not what I said while I was still in my land? Therefore I hastened to flee to Tarshish; because I knew that you are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger, and of great mercy, and that you repent of evil.

Jonah 4:2

We as children of God are sometimes in the same position or with the same idea that Jonah had, on some occasions we choose not to do the will of God because of what we would obtain as a result even if we obeyed God, Sometimes our selfish desires or what we believe will happen in our human reasoning leads us to lose sight of the spiritual and not focus on our thoughts. But the reality is that if God calls us to act, we simply must put our body and take the step since we understand from the word of God that he will take care of all the results.

What is it that prevents us at this moment from obeying God and following his ways? Maybe we are too angry with someone to improve the relationship, maybe we are hurt in our relationship to allow God to work and restore everything. Many situations may be happening in which we are the ones who do not allow God to work for good since we are imposing our thoughts and our desires contrary to what God wants to do.

We must be fully aware and not let ourselves be dominated by these feelings, let us remember that feelings are fluctuating and if we take the situation to the rational level we will always have the answer that God allows everything for our good, he only wants to bless us with Any situation, no matter how strong the feeling we have, rationally suits us and it is healthier to obey the word of God by embracing his promises.

No hace falta que nos preocupemos por lo que acontecerá en el futuro, nosotros debemos planificar y dejar todo en las manos de Dios y el cuidará de nosotros.

Vino palabra de Jehová por segunda vez a Jonás, diciendo: 2 Levántate y ve a Nínive, aquella gran ciudad, y proclama en ella el mensaje que yo te diré. 3 Y se levantó Jonás, y fue a Nínive conforme a la palabra de Jehová. Y era Nínive ciudad grande en extremo, de tres días de camino. 4 Y comenzó Jonás a entrar por la ciudad, camino de un día, y predicaba diciendo: De aquí a cuarenta días Nínive será destruida. 5 Y los hombres de Nínive creyeron a Dios, y proclamaron ayuno, y se vistieron de cilicio desde el mayor hasta el menor de ellos.
6 Y llegó la noticia hasta el rey de Nínive, y se levantó de su silla, se despojó de su vestido, y se cubrió de cilicio y se sentó sobre ceniza. 7 E hizo proclamar y anunciar en Nínive, por mandato del rey y de sus grandes, diciendo: Hombres y animales, bueyes y ovejas, no gusten cosa alguna; no se les dé alimento, ni beban agua; 8 sino cúbranse de cilicio hombres y animales, y clamen a Dios fuertemente; y conviértase cada uno de su mal camino, de la rapiña que hay en sus manos. 9 ¿Quién sabe si se volverá y se arrepentirá Dios, y se apartará del ardor de su ira, y no pereceremos?
10 Y vio Dios lo que hicieron, que se convirtieron de su mal camino; y se arrepintió del mal que había dicho que les haría, y no lo hizo.

Jonás 3.

A tener un mejor contexto y entendimiento de esto podemos leer juntamente también en el capítulo cuatro, Jonás después de entrar en el vientre de un pez ha tomado la decisión de comprometerse con lo que Dios le había pedido, generalmente cuando recordamos la historia de Jonás, recordamos que al final del día Jonás obedeció debido a las consecuencias de su previa desobediencia, pero esto no termina allí. El libro concluye indicándonos la razón de por qué Jonás no quería realizar lo que Dios le había encomendado Y Dios lo había reprendido por ese sentimiento egoísta que él tenía.

Jonás tenía mucho temor de aquellos quienes eran una amenaza para los judíos, los habitantes de Ninive, sobretodo el temor era que se arrepintiesen de sus malos caminos y Dios optara por no destruirlo, ahí vemos la razón por la cual Jonás deseaba verlos destruido por completo a los Ninivitas.

2 Y oró a Jehová y dijo: Ahora, oh Jehová, ¿no es esto lo que yo decía estando aún en mi tierra? Por eso me apresuré a huir a Tarsis; porque sabía yo que tú eres Dios clemente y piadoso, tardo en enojarte, y de grande misericordia, y que te arrepientes del mal.

Jonás 4:2

Nosotros como hijos de Dios algunas veces estamos en la misma posición o con la misma idea que tenía Jonás, en algunas ocasiones optamos por no hacer la voluntad de Dios por lo que obtendríamos como resultado aún cuando obedeciéramos a Dios, a veces nuestros deseos egoístas o lo que nosotros creemos que sucederá en nuestro razonamiento humano nos lleva a perder la vista lo espiritual y no se enfocamos en nuestros pensamientos. Pero la realidad es que si Dios nos llama actuar, nosotros simplemente debemos poner el cuerpo y dar el paso ya que entendemos por la palabra de Dios que él se encargará de todos los resultados.

¿Qué es lo que en este momento nos impide obedecer a Dios y seguir sus caminos? Quizás estemos demasiado enojado con alguien como para mejorar la relación, quizás estamos herido en nuestra relación de pareja como para permitir que Dios obre y restaure todo. Pueden estar sucediendo muchas situaciones en las que somos nosotros quienes no permitimos que Dios obre para bien ya que nosotros estamos imponiendo nuestros pensamientos y nuestros deseos contrario a lo que Dios quiere hacer.

Debemos tener plena conciencia y no dejarnos dominar por estos sentimientos, recordemos que los sentimientos son fluctuantes y si llevamos la situación al plano racional siempre tendremos la respuesta en que Dios permite todo para nuestro bien, él sólo nos quiere bendecir con cualquier situación, por más fuerte que sea el sentimiento que tenemos, racionalmente nos conviene y es más saludable obedecer la palabra de Dios abrazando sus promesas.
