Let's take a few minutes to think about ourselves, think of two or three areas where we are proud or where we are prone to be proud and confront them.

I appeal to the elders who are among you, as an elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker of the glory that is to be revealed: 2 Feed the flock of God that is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by compulsion, but willingly; not for dishonest gain, but with eagerness; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. 5 In the same way, you younger people, be subject to the elders; and all of you, being submissive to one another, clothe yourselves with humility, for:
God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; 7 casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you.

1 Peter 5.1-7

We have seen that the apostle Peter in the previous text urges us to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God but the question is the following: how can we do this? And it is here where I want us to share some possible solutions to deal with it.

We can take the case of possessions, this implies that we begin to be more generous, that we honor God with our tithes and offerings this can be a great start, let us not forget those in need and give to those who are in that situation. Let us try not to disclose to the whole world what we are doing, if we can keep it as discreet as possible it would be better.

Beware of doing your righteousness before men, to be seen by them; Otherwise you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
2 Therefore when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Truly, I say to you, they have their reward. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Matthew 6:1-4

The place or position that we have achieved, let us recognize that everything we are today and what we have achieved is by the grace of God and by His powerful hand, everything we achieve in this world is thanks to God and it is necessary that we glorify God for it.

9 Let the brother who is of lowly condition boast in his exaltation; 10 but the rich, in his humiliation; For he will pass away like the flower of the grass. 11 For when the sun rises with scorching heat, the grass withers, its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes; so also the rich man will wither in all his enterprises.

James 1:9-11

In accordance with the above, let us take into account the privilege that we have, and this can make us proud of the results. None of us has been created like this, even when we can justify ourselves by the hard work that we have done or the sacrifices that we have made to obtain the opportunities and freedoms that we are fully enjoying today. Let us always remember that the grace of God floods us and he is the one who has blessed us by his abundant grace.

Let us place our hearts in the hands of God to cultivate humility and in this way fully trust in God and thus confront our pride. God will replace those thoughts with the thoughts of God. Are you ready?

Tomemos unos minutos para pensar acerca de nosotros, pensemos en dos o tres áreas en las que somos orgullosos o en los que somos propensos a serlo y confrontémoslo.

Ruego a los ancianos que están entre vosotros, yo anciano también con ellos, y testigo de los padecimientos de Cristo, que soy también participante de la gloria que será revelada: 2 Apacentad la grey de Dios que está entre vosotros, cuidando de ella, no por fuerza, sino voluntariamente; no por ganancia deshonesta, sino con ánimo pronto; 3 no como teniendo señorío sobre los que están a vuestro cuidado, sino siendo ejemplos de la grey. 4 Y cuando aparezca el Príncipe de los pastores, vosotros recibiréis la corona incorruptible de gloria. 5 Igualmente, jóvenes, estad sujetos a los ancianos; y todos, sumisos unos a otros, revestíos de humildad; porque:
Dios resiste a los soberbios,
Y da gracia a los humildes.
6 Humillaos, pues, bajo la poderosa mano de Dios, para que él os exalte cuando fuere tiempo; 7 echando toda vuestra ansiedad sobre él, porque él tiene cuidado de vosotros.

1 Pedro 5.1-7

Hemos que el apóstol Pedro en el texto anterior insta a que nos humillemos bajo la poderosa mano de Dios pero la pregunta es la siguiente: ¿cómo podemos hacer esto? Y es aquí donde quiero que compartamos algunas posibles soluciones para lidiar con ello.

Podemos tomar el caso de las posesiones, esto implica que comencemos hacer más dadivosos, que honremos a Dios con nuestros diezmos y ofrendas este puede ser un gran inicio, no olvidemos de aquellos necesitados y demos a quienes están en esa situación. Tratemos de no divulgar a todo el mundo lo que estamos haciendo, si podemos mantenerlo lo más discreto posible sería mejor.

Guardaos de hacer vuestra justicia delante de los hombres, para ser vistos de ellos; de otra manera no tendréis recompensa de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.
2 Cuando, pues, des limosna, no hagas tocar trompeta delante de ti, como hacen los hipócritas en las sinagogas y en las calles, para ser alabados por los hombres; de cierto os digo que ya tienen su recompensa. 3 Mas cuando tú des limosna, no sepa tu izquierda lo que hace tu derecha, 4 para que sea tu limosna en secreto; y tu Padre que ve en lo secreto te recompensará en público.

Mateo 6:1-4

El lugar o la posición que hemos logrado, reconozcamos que todo lo que hoy somos y lo que hemos logrado es por la gracia de Dios y por su mano poderosa, todo lo que alcancemos en este mundo es gracias a Dios y es necesario que glorifiquemos a Dios por ello.

9 El hermano que es de humilde condición, gloríese en su exaltación; 10 pero el que es rico, en su humillación; porque él pasará como la flor de la hierba. 11 Porque cuando sale el sol con calor abrasador, la hierba se seca, su flor se cae, y perece su hermosa apariencia; así también se marchitará el rico en todas sus empresas.

Santiago 1:9-11

Conforme a lo anterior tengamos en cuenta el privilegio que tenemos, y esto puede hacer que nos enorgullezcamos por los resultados. Ninguno de nosotros ha sido creado asimismo, aún cuando podemos justificar por el duro trabajo que hemos realizado o los sacrificios que hemos hecho para obtener las oportunidades y libertades que hoy estamos disfrutando plenamente. Recordemos siempre que la gracia de Dios nos inunda y él es quien nos ha bendecido por su abundante gracia.

Dispongamos nuestro corazón en las manos de Dios para cultivar la humildad y de esta forma confiar plenamente en Dios y así confrontar nuestro orgullo Dios reemplazará esos pensamientos por los pensamientos de Dios ¿estás preparado?.
