There are many doctrines surrounding different practices in Christianity, one of them is fasting, which is described in the Bible. We could say that it helps us focus on the Lord by setting aside for a time the act of eating.
The words of Nehemiah son of Hacaliah. It happened in the month of Chislev, in the twentieth year, while I was in Shushan the capital, 2 that Hanani, one of my brothers, came with some men of Judah, and I inquired about the Jews who had escaped, who were left of the captivity, and about Jerusalem. 3 And they said to me, "The remnant, those who are left of the captivity, there in the province, are in great distress and disgrace, and the wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are burned with fire."
4 When I heard these words, I sat down and wept and mourned for several days, and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. 5 And I said, I pray thee, O Lord, God of heaven, the great, and awesome, keeping covenant and lovingkindness with them that love him, and keep his commandments; 6 Let now thine ear be attentive, and thine eyes open, that I may hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee day and night for the children of Israel thy servants; and I confess the sins of the children of Israel which we have sinned against thee; yea, I and my father's house have sinned. 7 We have acted exceedingly corruptly toward thee, and have not kept the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses. 8 Remember, I pray thee, the word which thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye sin, I will scatter you among the peoples: 9 But if you return to me and keep my commandments and do them, though you are scattered to the ends of the heavens, I will gather you from there and bring you to the place I have chosen to make my name dwell there. 10 They are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power and by your mighty hand. 11 I pray you, O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants who desire to fear your name. Now therefore, grant success to your servant and give him favor in the sight of this man. For I served as cupbearer to the king.
Nehemiah 1:1-11
We see that the prophet Nehemiah's brother returned from Judah with very bad news. He indicated that the Israelites living in Jerusalem were in very bad shape, and that is why he began fasting for days, accompanied by prayer, and afterward decided to ask the king of Persia for help.
Here, perhaps we can attribute the use of these enemies as something powerful. It is actually a discipline that helps us focus on God, as we put aside many other things to focus on God, driven by our affliction or our desire to achieve something. The purpose of all this is to seek the Lord in prayer to seek His will. Let us remember that it is also essential to accompany ourselves with His word.
When we enter this situation of fasting, many things happen. First, we focus on God and allow His Holy Spirit to help us, and our focus shifts from ourselves to the Lord. We gain clarity in our thoughts and in the Word of God, thus allowing our ability to understand His plans to become clearer because we are not distracted by our own things; we are focused on a single purpose. Through this, we understand that it is not fasting itself that has power or anything similar, but that fasting is part of what helps us focus on God and is also the result of a situation or need for which we need to turn to God in prayer.
We see the case of Nehemiah, who received unexpected news, and similar situations. Just as the prophet may receive news that can leave us dejected. This is how it is when we seek God with wisdom and enter into fasting and prayer. Let us ask God for clarity to know His will and, through fasting and prayer, resolve the situation with the Lord's guidance.

Existen muchas doctrinas en torno a diferentes prácticas en el cristianísmo, una de ellas es el ayuno que está descrito en la biblia, podríamos decir que nos ayuda a centrarnos en el Señor dejando de lado por un tiempo el hecho de consumir alimento.
Palabras de Nehemías hijo de Hacalías. Aconteció en el mes de Quisleu, en el año veinte, estando yo en Susa, capital del reino, 2 que vino Hanani, uno de mis hermanos, con algunos varones de Judá, y les pregunté por los judíos que habían escapado, que habían quedado de la cautividad, y por Jerusalén. 3 Y me dijeron: El remanente, los que quedaron de la cautividad, allí en la provincia, están en gran mal y afrenta, y el muro de Jerusalén derribado, y sus puertas quemadas a fuego.
4 Cuando oí estas palabras me senté y lloré, e hice duelo por algunos días, y ayuné y oré delante del Dios de los cielos. 5 Y dije: Te ruego, oh Jehová, Dios de los cielos, fuerte, grande y temible, que guarda el pacto y la misericordia a los que le aman y guardan sus mandamientos; 6 esté ahora atento tu oído y abiertos tus ojos para oír la oración de tu siervo, que hago ahora delante de ti día y noche, por los hijos de Israel tus siervos; y confieso los pecados de los hijos de Israel que hemos cometido contra ti; sí, yo y la casa de mi padre hemos pecado. 7 En extremo nos hemos corrompido contra ti, y no hemos guardado los mandamientos, estatutos y preceptos que diste a Moisés tu siervo. 8 Acuérdate ahora de la palabra que diste a Moisés tu siervo, diciendo: Si vosotros pecareis, yo os dispersaré por los pueblos; 9 pero si os volviereis a mí, y guardareis mis mandamientos, y los pusiereis por obra, aunque vuestra dispersión fuere hasta el extremo de los cielos, de allí os recogeré, y os traeré al lugar que escogí para hacer habitar allí mi nombre. 10 Ellos, pues, son tus siervos y tu pueblo, los cuales redimiste con tu gran poder, y con tu mano poderosa. 11 Te ruego, oh Jehová, esté ahora atento tu oído a la oración de tu siervo, y a la oración de tus siervos, quienes desean reverenciar tu nombre; concede ahora buen éxito a tu siervo, y dale gracia delante de aquel varón. Porque yo servía de copero al rey.
Nehemías 1.1-11
Vemos que el hermano de el profeta ni mías regresó de Judá con muy malas noticias, indicó que los israelitas que estaban viviendo en Jerusalén estaban muy mal y es por esto que anemias entró en ayuno durante días acompañado en oración y después de eso decidió pedir ayuda al rey de Persia.
Aquí quizá podemos atribuir a las uno de enemigas como algo poderoso que en realidad es una disciplina que nos ayuda a centrarnos en Dios ya que dejamos de lado muchas otras cosas para enfocarnos en Dios impulsado por nuestra aflicción o nuestro deseo de alcanzar algo y el propósito de todo esto es buscar al Señor en oración para buscar su voluntad, recordemos que también es esencial acompañar de su palabra.
Cuándo entramos en esta situación de ayuno suceden muchas cosas, primero que nos centramos en Dios y permitimos que su espíritu Santo nos ayude y nuestro enfoque cambia de nosotros hacia el señor, tenemos claridad en nuestros pensamientos y en la palabra de Dios permitiendo así que nuestra capacidad de entender sus planes se aclara porque no estamos distraídos con nuestras cosas, estamos enfocados con un solo propósito. A través de esto entendemos que no es el ayuno en si mismo que tiene poder o algo similar sino que el ayuno es parte de lo que nos ayuda a enfocarnos en Dios y también es el resultado de una situación o una necesidad a la que necesitamos acudir a Dios en oración.
Vemos el caso de Nehemías que ha recibido una noticia inesperada y situaciones similares a esta que así como el profeta puede llegar a nosotros noticias que nos pueden dejar abatido y así es cuando buscamos a Dios con sabiduría y entramos en ayuno y oración, pidamos a Dios claridad para conocer su voluntad y a través del ayuno y oración resolver la situación con la guía del señor.
