Where is the Point of "Giving Up?"

One of the old truisms of market cycles — not just crypto, but all financials — is that a protracted downward slide seldom ends until we reach the point of "market capitulation;" the point at which everyone just declares that the situation is hopeless and stop even paying attention.

It's often also the place where "bottom fishers" enter the market and actually end up aiding in some kind of recovery... or at least "going sideways."

Right now, things look really bleak in the cryptosphere. Pretty much everything is dropping into a bottomless pit, and our own Hive token is setting new all-time-lows virtually every day.

The often cited "Fear-Greed Index" actually reached a new all-time low of 5 the other day. Hardly encouraging.

But I am far less interesting in bellyaching about a down market than in exploring whether or not the current collapse is close to a bottom... or are we going to keep on sliding?

It's not something I know the answer to, but I do know that my meager crypto holdings are down some 60% from where they were, just six months ago.

I'm not really worrying too much about it all, but I do have a small amount of cash set aside to buy into something with, when the bleeding has stopped.

I am well aware that picking a low is a pretty dodgy proposition... and people very rarely manage to hit that target. But I'd at least like to think I'm not going to add to my stash when there's still another 50% downside waiting in the wings!

Once again, I'm also reminded that this whole gig is — indeed — pretty much the "wild wild west" still... for now, I guess I'm just going to see how the weekend goes, and which way the winds are blowing on Monday!

Today was a green candle day and the fear and greed index was like 6, very unusual... The market seems to still be strange like it's waiting for something to happen.
