Woodlands Hari Raya Bazaar... A Night of Food Stop (and I’m Already Planning Round 2)
I just got back to Singapore, and you know that “welcome home” feeling? Mine is basically food. So the very first thing I did was head over to the food bazaar in the Woodlands area, set up to welcome the upcoming Hari Raya season this March. In Singapore, when a major holiday is around the corner, the bazaars arrive early, almost like a month-long countdown where the real celebration begins with snacks, grills, and sugar highs.

The moment I stepped in, it was hard not to smile. The bazaar was buzzing, and the vibe felt extra festive with all the warm lights overhead, like walking through a tunnel of glowing bulbs while the air around you is filled with the scent of frying, grilling, and sweet drinks. I honestly love this part of Singapore’s food culture: it’s lively, it’s social, and it gives creative cooks a platform to test their ideas in real time. If your stall has a crowd, you already know you’re winning… because people will definitely talk about it on social media (and the younger crowd here is serious about that).




What I also noticed while walking around is how diverse the cuisines are. You can jump from Malay and Indian classics to international stalls that lean Korean, Japanese, and Middle Eastern. And then there are the “fusion” stalls where you can’t really put a label on it, just food made to catch your attention (and stomach).





One stall that caught my eye immediately was Ramly, bright yellow signage, a long counter, and that comforting “quick snack” energy. Their menu boards showed a mix of familiar street favourites: things like mee goreng, maggi goreng, nasi lemak, and even Ramly burgers. This is the kind of stall I like in a bazaar because it’s casual and efficient. You can just point, order, and keep moving, perfect when your main plan is to explore everything.






Then there was the Korean Fried Chicken stall screaming “BEST” in big bold letters (honestly, bazaar marketing is always so loud and I kinda love it). The menu had different flavours like garlic soy, spicy, sweet & spicy, and even cheese-style options. The chicken looked freshly fried and glossy under the lights, the kind of crispy that you can almost hear before you even take a bite. I didn’t go full feast mode at every stall (because stomach space is a real problem), but I bookmarked this one in my head for the next visit.
I also passed a stall advertising Biryani Dum Kambing, and that instantly gave me that warm, spicy, “I want rice now” craving. The idea of dum-style cooking always sounds so comforting to me: slow-cooked, fragrant, and rich. Seeing it in a bazaar setting made it feel extra exciting, like you can get celebration food without needing a full sit-down restaurant.





Of course, it wasn’t just savoury. I saw a colourful tiramisu display with flavours like Oreo, pistachio, and more, so tempting, especially when you’re walking and the sweet options keep calling your name. And for drinks, the bright, playful lemon tea stall stood out with its neon vibe and big menu board. It felt like the kind of drink you buy to “reset” your palate after too many fried bites (which is basically the bazaar lifestyle, LOL).
Before leaving, I also walked by a Thai fried banana stall, another classic bazaar magnet. Crispy edges, soft sweet banana inside… it’s the kind of snack that disappears faster than you expect.
Overall, this Woodlands Hari Raya bazaar gave me exactly what I wanted: energy, variety, and that exciting feeling of hopping from one stall to the next. The best part is that it’s running until mid-March, which means I can come back and try the things I missed tonight, because let’s be real, one round is never enough.
