Hoverflies – My insect friends

The hoverfly was ‘standing’ in the air in front of me, as if it was waiting to get photographed

Hoverflies are fascinating insects. After dogs and sloths, they rank third on my list of favourite animals. They always seem friendly and curious to me, sometimes they even land on my finger and say hello. Even if they look like it, they are not dangerous at all.

I love these little guys. Where I live, now seems to be their high season. There are a ton of them everywhere. You can put your finger out like a little place to land an d they will almost always come land on your finger. They're cute and friendly and they don't bite.

Exactly, it's like giving them a place to rest for a while and they enjoy it.

I don't think we get those guys here. I will also say that some of those photos would make an excellent start for a drawing.

Feel free to paint any of them, I'm sure it will be a lovely painting.
And of course I will buy it on WAX.
Search for them in the wilder parts of the garden. They are like little colibries.

Thank you. I'm not sure what flower it is but I also like the fine structures.

Looking dangerous has both pros and cons, animals won't attack you but panicking humans will, thinking you're a wasp 🤨
I don't get at all why people fear any of them, bees and wasps can sit on your hand without any problems as well.

That brings the idea to make a little post about the bees as well. Standing in a swarm for macroshots is scaring for me but not really dangerous when moving slow.

DANG those are good pics. I never could figure out why people are scared of bees or such. Like without them... good luck eating food lol

Exactly, we should see them as friends and usefull helpers. Wasps scare me somehow but they also have their right to live.

My saying has always been. As long as the animals are outside of my house they have even more of a right to live there than me.

IF they are in my house... well survival of the fittest mother %$&^#@@'s lol

Wow, I also love them! I had taken many many photos of them the last years, but now I have a different phone and I am still struggling with macro shots.
What did you use to take these photos? Loved the clarify and edit you did!

Glad that you like them.
I use a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra phone camera. Sadly it gets worse with every update of the system (somehow the new phones have to sell...), so I also struggle with macro shots at the moment.
The pictures are maybe two years old.

Wow .. I used to have samsung edge and I was very happy with it and with the photos.
But when it died suddenly, I got my hands on a used iPhone and I have not changed again since.
I hope that you get to buy a new phone soon :)
Thanks for connecting also, its a pleasure to see fellow nature lovers!

I think we met each other back in the days on noise.cash. At least I recognized your profile pic, so I wanted to follow you.
The hardware of that phone is still in perfect shape, only the camera software gets worse. So I will cope with it or test some other apps.
