you could post some of your work in the photography lovers community. Write a short photoblog and you can earn decent extra income. Just join the photo communities over the communities tab.

I want to learn more about DeFi, specifically layer-two tokens on HIVE.

there are some projects that have dividend paying tokens. You can provide liquidity or trade on one of the hive engine dexes. As for DEFI that is kinda it for hive.
Best play: accumulate Leo and bridge it to arbitrum there you can stake it on leodex and earn USDC yield on it starting september 23

This is an excellent suggestion: accumulate LEO. Then, make it yield USDC. Later, I'll exchange it for HIVE to increase my HP.
