The Joys of Ramadan and Preparations for Eid

Hello friends,❤
I hadn't blogged anything in ages because the holy month of Ramadan is ongoing, and I have been occupied with fasting, prayers, and doing acts of charity with the less fortunate. Throughout this time, I witnessed the tranquility that comes with fasting as well as the joy of breaking iftar with the underprivileged.

The iftar moment is always special. After going hungry and thirsty all day, listening to the call for prayer (Azaan) and having the first bite is an experience beyond words. I used to prepare a range of foods for iftar every day—dates, fruits, pakoras, samosas, dahi vadas, and the showstopper, biryani! This year, I got biryani prepared by a local chef and shared it with people so that everyone could enjoy the joy of this holy month.

Yesterday, during iftar time, we did the kids' Eid shopping in the market. We brought pretty clothes for them, stitched for me a fine suit for iftar and beyond, and got my husband's kurta-pajama too. Step by step, Eid preparations are unfolding.

The Significance of Ramadan

Ramadan is not merely about fasting and abstaining from food and water; it is a time of worship and a test of endurance. It is a month that unites hearts, makes us empathize with the hardships of others, and promotes acts of charity. Fasting not only makes one strong in self-control but also assists in eradicating bad habits. This month propagates the message of spreading happiness among the poor, promoting love and harmony in society.

Now we eagerly look forward to Eid, the day that honors a month of worship and forbearance. On Eid, everyone will put on new attire, attend mosque prayers, and greet one another warmly. From the sweet seviyan to numerous yummy foods, the festival spirit will abound in merriment.

Each year, Ramadan imparts useful lessons to us—patience, thankfulness, and kindness towards others. This holy month will again bring peace to our hearts and loads of precious memories.
