Well That Did Not Last Very Long

Back in January I did a post talking about the quality of a back pack Lap Top bag I had bought granny for Christmas and had the item replaced due to a tearing of the inner lining after just a few days use.

Above was the damage highlighting the inner lining tearing and not fit for purpose so we sent the bag back and received a replacement with a different lining. This was only after a couple of days use so I did not have much confidence and this was bought to life fairly soon when the replacement started doing the same thing.

This is the damage with the current back pack bag and the lining is now pulling off from both sides. The bag itself looks fine except when you pay a high price for a product you do expect some type of quality. If this was purchased from Temu then you would kind of expect this, but this was a high end store purchase.

This year has a been a busy year and only this week were we able to pop back into the store deciding what is the next step. This was a $500 bag and one cannot just leave it so the store manager recommended we contact the company and we move from there.
They are not a small company and have a list of brands they manage and this morning I received a response asking whether it was an online or instore purchase. I have responded and now waiting for the next move which will be to return the item to the store for a credit.

In this situation a store credit suits our needs as we need a couple of suitcases after having travelled earlier in the year and one of the suitcases was damaged. One of the Samsung hard shell cases was cracked during transit which if you know how hard they are one can only imagine how these bags are treated. These types of bags are not cheap either and I can recall paying $260 for this bag in France and it has survived barely two trips.
I mentioned Temu and what was funny is on our family trip last year my daughters bag bought via Temu did not make the trip as everything broke. The handle came off and the zip broke leaving us with no choice to buy another cheap replacement in the UK. It seems it makes no difference what you buy today as either the quality is questionable or the airport baggage people will test your bag out finding out new ways of how to break them.
We will be travelling back to the UK in the next two months or so to visit my mother who is not well. This is a must do trip even though I have other things I need to be doing, but family comes first and there is no budget for family members. This will be trip number 3 in virtually 1 year and I expect to be doing some more in the near future.
I was hoping to go via Dubai on this trip, but we have not reached the point in the crypto cycle yet to justify opening a bank account and I guess it will have to happen on the next trip. I am not 100% certain, but I do believe they need a minimum deposit amount to open an account and I would rather have that in case I need this for more UK trips for now and not tied up. This bank account is a priority right behind my mothers needs and it can wait.

When the customer is not satisfied and even after buying such an expensive item, it deteriorates within a short period of time, then that company slowly deteriorates and the customer's trust continues to erode and one day it closes. Whatever the company, the customer's trust is the most important thing.
Capitalism was supposed to reinforce quality....sad many companies only focus on the consumerist aspect of things
