The Power Of Recovery

Today was my grandson's 7th birthday and to think a month ago the poor bugger was in intensive care for 3 days. Life s so fragile and it is these types of reminders that make these types of days so special.

He loves his Lego so my daughter made him a Lego cake which he will take to school tomorrow to share with his class mates. This was his decision and shows he is just too caring always worrying about others. I think this is the opposite of what we see today with most people only worrying about themselves.

Lego is no longer seen as just boring building blocks and the company has transformed their business for all age groups and interests.

When we were overseas we bought him various Lego kits like the London bus above which ha entertained him for hours following the instructions and building the kits on his own. ne of the great features Lego has included n these kits is the instructions can be downloaded to a phone making the build very easy to follow. Lego have taken photographs of each piece and is a step by step build which no doubt will lead to buying bigger and more complicated kits.

Whoever was responsible for Lego moving in this direction has definitely gained a much bigger customer base and they have to be a prime example of how a company successfully pivoted and moved with the times. During my youth it was Dinky toys and Action Man and not really Lego. Today Lego has to compete with computer games and they are doing seriously well.

We ended up going to the local trampoline park where he was more interested in climbing the wall and then jumping down from the top. There must have been a good hundred kids in there today at one point and it was more like organised chaos yet you just wonder how no one seems to get injured.

This facility is in one of the local shopping centers and I am amazed it can survive knowing what rentals are these days. A pubic holiday or a weekend would not be the norm for most of the month with weekdays I am sure not coming close to covering staff wages let alone the rental and maintenance of the equipment. They must be getting a special rental being a destination drawing people into the center. I have heard about these rental agreements before and this would make sense for this trampoline park.

My grandson had a great day which is what is important and his next outing will be going to the Pretoria Zoo driving around in a golf cart. The last time we had races and I am under no illusion this is more about the golf cart than the zoo.

Lego has been popular these days. I haven't known any child who doesn't know Lego. Happy birthday to your grandson.

That cake is adorable!

Lego has certainly been loved by multiple generations.

That trampoline park looks like a very fun destination. I couldn't believe my eyes seeing your grandson way up that wall !
