Happy Christmas Everyone

The Tree Was Pretty Well Stocked Up This Year.

Happy Christmas To My Extended Hive Family

Christmas in my household this year like every other year starts off with a bang and by the end of the day you tend to fizzle out because it is knackering. The two red sacks you see in front are the Christmas stockings of my grand kids that Santa left over night. I had to fill those at around 1 am making sure they were both asleep first. Then you have to eat and drink what they they had left out for Santa which I shared with the dog lol.

All hell broke loose at around 5am when the grand kids found out Santa had not forgot them and now wanted to open presents. The rule is they have to wait to open their stockings for the adults to attend and I think that rule should be tweaked. I managed to drag myself up for a 5.30 am coffee and it was a really fun morning.

The plan for the day was to start getting ready at around 10.30 am for a Christmas lunch I had booked which was a 40 minute drive away. The only problem was I was now not feeling very well and was sweating and shivering at the same time. I think it was either a bug or some type of food poisoning and normally I would have skipped the luncheon entirely, but couldn't. After a good 30 minutes I did feel better to continue, but rather more delicate than normal and most definitely not very festive.

The Christmas function was seriously good and everyone had a good time and after a couple of drinks later I was feeling great. They had 5 different meats Piglet, Lamb, Beef, Turkey and Portuguese Chicken plus seafood which I thought it was wise to avoid. The function was a pre booked event and was closed off at 200 people. I noticed one table just eating prawns and I do not see the fascination in this considering the vast selection and how good all the food was.

They had a kids play area for the kids which helped and since they ate for free it did not matter how much or how little they ate. The bill will shock everyone as this was 5 adults drinking alcohol and eating which included a few bottles of wine and all in was R2800 (including a good tip) or roughly $150 so $30 per head which is exceptional value. I spent more on burgers when we were sitting down travelling around in Europe.

When we arrived home around 3pm I timed the event to perfection as I have been man down ever since and now other members of the family have not been feeling great. We shall know tomorrow if it is a bug or not as I am not 100% sure and my mind is kind of going back to a marinated Tuna steak I cooked for everyone a few days ago. I should know better the only time a retail outlet marinates any type of fish is because it is no longer fresh and turning bad.

The good news is I am up and about and they are all now about to feel like I was and it is only a quick illness. I have my new tv kit set up as I was given a new firestick today as one of my gifts and will post about how this works and why every home should have one.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and gets to spend quality time relaxing with their families.
