Growing A Business Has It's Problems

This week Wednesday we received 11 tons of our precious material stuffing and only equates to around 16% of what we need monthly. I wish they produced double this amount, but we have to work with what they have and we take everything they produce. We use various types of stuffing and need roughly 30 tons monthly with another 30 tons of river sand. This number is expected to rise by another 40% and then we own the entire market. Doubling our capacity is a good problem to be having to worry about none the less it is still an issue that needs to be overcome.

These are kind of scary numbers, but in a good way so I am always on the hunt for more and that hunt will continue until I can find at least one more regular supplier. I have a back up supplier, but his prices are roughly 40% more and his maximum supply is roughly 10 tons monthly. if we are heading into numbers that I think will be coming this only equates to around 40% and we need to find another 60%. Bits and pieces add up slowly, but nowhere near another 30 tons of material stuffing.

With our new client coming on board earlier this month requiring around 20 tons the pressure is very much on to find more material. It is great the numbers have been rising, but with the additional orders you have to grow your supply at the same time.

No one quite knew what the punch bag market numbers would be each month and we have a good idea now which is about 100-150 per day. Don't ask me where all these punch bags are going as we have 3 main clients plus the online platforms that kind of mess with the production figures. One day you think you are on track to fulfil your orders for online to come in and scoop 50 from your stock pile. If we can supply 100 daily that means our competitors are still supplying 50 so I need to gear for around 100 tons of material monthly which is insane and we still have along way to go.

I checked this week why the numbers have been steadily rising and it looks like the other two competitors have no stock and we are now it. This is a really good sign if they have out of stocks because I believe they are on their way out and maybe I can get my hands on their brand purchasing it if it comes available. This would be the ideal scenario and why I am constantly checking what is happening in the market. I could think of nothing better than getting my hands on one or two more brands and owning those outright.

This is hard to plan for as we presumed online would be between 20 and 30 weekly which has been the average, but this week they sold 45 XXL bags which is a 35 Kg bag so all in around 1.6 tons as we go slightly over the weight. It looks like I will need a lot more material as we head into the busier months and do not want to get caught out not being able to supply the demand.

The hope is once our competitors close down someone will make contact about supplying stuffing material, but in the mean time I need to be continuously on the search as this material stuffing is not easy to find. The dream scenario would be someone to phone up and offer their supply, but you cannot rely on that happening. The sand is not the issue and this is purely finding the right fabric material offcuts that can be used that is also dirt cheap.

Exactly huge challenges but also a great opportunity
The growing demand clearly shows real success in the market.
