Doggie Grooming At Home

A few weeks ago we had the mobile doggie parlour come out and treat two of our three dogs. We have done this before a number of times and our one dog freezes up in fear and is now excluded. I would not say we are regulars who have our dogs groomed every month and it is more like every 6 months.

These photos are a constant reminder that the wall needs scraping down and painting which will be done once we have the solar installed. Owning a home the work never ends and there is always something that needs doing.

Brock the biggest of our dogs who was a stray which we adopted a year ago was also a test bunny this time around and he had no issues with being groomed. I was worried if we tied him to the trailer he could pull it down the drive way and without a leash he hooped into the back of the trailer on his own accord. This is good news as being a stray he has a great temperament and is comfortable around humans. Hs only fear is thunder and lightning along with rain and this must have been a reminder of the time he was running the streets.

Brock is what I would call a proper garbage dog though and a scavenger always looking for food even when he has just been fed. He will not take food off the kitchen counter and will rather sit next to it and stand guard hoping someone notices him and offers him some.

The grooming experience takes roughly 60 minutes per dog with their nails being trimmed along with a good wash and blow dry. The cost is actually rather cheap and the bill was R360 which is less than $20 for both dogs and why I paid a little extra as I do think the lady is under charging for what she offers.

I have found it is always the case when you find something that suits your needs they end up closing down and I would prefer to pay more for this service so she remains in business. The convenience factor alone she should be charging more than the physical dog parlours. Even if she did a dog every hour during the day she s not making a fortune after you take away her expenses. Strange that most things are over priced thee days yet the one service that goes over and above like this is still so undervalued.

The lady who owns this mobile dog grooming business is retired and to be honest even as a side hustle I would not do this as the money is just not there. It is not surprising you have to book in advance due to the services being so cheap. I have not compared these prices against other grooming businesses who come and collect your dogs, but I would imagine they would be more than double this price possibly even triple.

I can totally relate to Brock's fear of thunder; my dog hides under the bed during storms. Glad he's doing well with grooming !PIZZA
