Welp They Did It
I just opened up my TikTok app and horror I discovered it happened. It looks like they are shutting down until some resolution can be found on the recently past TikTok band legislation. I think this is a huge loss for free speech and could actually create some societal issues as I know a lot of people are mad about the ban while over 7 million Americans also relied on it for income.
I wrote a little about this topic earlier, but I’m still stunned that they were not able to come to a compromise at this time. It really is a bad look from an economic standpoint and will be interesting to see how markets and the public handle the news, Mark and Meta Are expected to win, but we’ll have to see.

I'm not sad about this. I know it won't last, but Tik Tok is mostly trash in my opinion. I honestly don't feel like there is a single worthwhile thing in there. Most people probably feel that way about my content on Hive though too.
Everyone has their favorite app I think a lot of people will be sad and mad. I just don't know if it will actually impact anything.
7 million Americans earn from tiktok, many users are American. They are in trouble. I don't want anything to be censored but its many users are acting like crazy

This is indeed a significant and concerning development. I think the potential TikTok ban has far-reaching implications, not just for free speech but also for the millions of creators and businesses that rely on the platform for income. This is troubling even though I am not directly involved in it. :)
I think it does too I'm worried they might be putting feelers out to see what else they can ban.
I have never use tik tok. I just watch YouTube, lots of awesome gaming videos !
Tik Tok felt more organic than other platforms. Right, wrong or indifferent I think we are loosing free speech when this happens.
Looking forward to seeing how things will play out, I think a compromise can happen between involved parties. USA is a significant market for TikTok..
