Stocks Shrug Off Mideast Conflict

I'm not sure what will actually keep stocks down now a days... When markets opened I was shocked to see stock up, but I was even more shocked to see stocks hold those gains and rebounded on today as investors were optimistic that the conflict between Israel and Iran may remain contained. Last weeks spike in oil prices due to the escalating conflict also eased which explains some of the optimism.

The Dow rose 317.30 points, or 0.75%, closing at 42,515.09. The S&P 500 advanced 0.94% to end at 6,033.11, while the Nasdaq surged 1.52% and settled at 19,701.21.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures fell more than 1% to $71.77 a barrel after trading above $77 in the overnight session.

I don't think stock should be up with what I have seen. so going forward I know I will be keeping close tabs on the middle east and any further expansion of the conflict will drag stocks down.

I was watching Israel unleash airstrikes across Iran and some Iranian missiles evade Israeli air defenses to strike buildings in the heart of the country on Tik Tok. I saw that both Iran and Israel issued new evacuation orders Monday as the two continued firing missiles at each other for a fourth straight day. I'm no expert, but ti sure does not look like tings are cooling down...

No, it really doesn't feel like this is going to end anytime soon. You would have thought that Israel might have been over extended in the first place with the Gaza thing. I certainly didn't expect my favorite nuclear stock to hit an all time high today.

I don't think so either. If we help bomb them it will be a whole new era for the middle east. I don't want to see another 20 year war

I don't either. I'm honestly shocked we find ourselves here.

Whenever there is a war, we only see the price of gold increasing, but today I am happy to see the price of Bitcoin increasing in the morning.

It will never end until Iranian nuclear program has been erased, and considering it's deep inside a mountain and Israel doesn't have the projectiles to penetrate it...

Can't say I expect the tension to cool down anytime soon but I also wouldn't be surprised if it does. We live in an age where the unexpected can always happen and I think markets are becoming less dependent on IRL events for direction.
