Beersaturday - Poppin Pastels

It’s memorial weekend so it’s only fitting that we are at the lake house. I love being up here and spending time at the lake. It offers some much needed relaxation and time to recover. For this beersaturday I’m trying Poppin Pastrls a sour wheat ale with Sicilian Lemon, Red Plum,Key Lime and milk sugar.

If you are thinking that’s a mouthful to say it’s even more of a mouthful to try to describe. Transient ales is an amazing brewery and has found a way to combine very diverse flavors into something that works.

This beer pours beautifully with almost a grapefruit color and slightly off-white head. There’s a decent amount of carbonation, but it looks light like a juice.

The aroma is more subtle than I would have imagined. It’s light with juice light qualities I get a little bit of vanilla, plum, lemon, and a sour funk. The combination of aromas makes it feel almost like a grapefruit juice.

The flavor is wonderful and complex. There is acidity and sour to start and you get tart, sweet and rich in the middle. You can almost forget your drinking a beer as the flavors are so juice like.

With all that carbonation, the mouth feels light. Being that it is a sour you get a nice punch to the taste buds. That is exciting and makes you want to continue drinking the beer. This was an excellent choice for the occasion as I was able to sip it through the evening And relax as we watched the sunset
