My struggle as a First time mom

(Edited)

As a first-time mom, the first really struggle I face began during pregnancy. When my tummy was 6-9 months.

The struggle I experienced are :

  • Stop drinking cold drinks: Can't drink any soft drink and cold drinks because my baby in my tummy will grow quickly also my tummy will be big. They said; That's why I'm so jealous before to all pregnant women can drink what ever they want.
  • Minimize food: My pregnancy eating habit is to eat more and more as my belly grows, It isn't pregnancy cravings; I eat anything at home, and even though I don't want to eat a lot. my appetite grows, I feel like I'll keep going until I'm satisfied.
  • Difficult to sit and lie down: Struggling to sit up, they say you have to keep your legs closed when sitting. Because if they are open, the baby's head will grow in my tummy, and it will be difficult for me to give birth; even bending over and lying down, I have difficulty.
  • Sleepy: I was always sleepy even when I was doing nothing, and I woke up late and was also sleepy every noontime and afternoon =_=
  • Walking: I need to walk slowly to avoid having a difficult birth. And every one is tells me I should go for a one-hour walk every morning and afternoon. Even though it's difficult for me, I'm doing all of this in order to avoid having a bad time myself.

After Giving Birth
Although giving birth is challenging, the struggles don't stop there. Because you will go through a lot after having your child, including:

  • Breastfeeding: Because I'm a breastfeeding momshie, during my son's first breastfeeding, my nipple hurt so much, to the point that I didn't want to breastfeed him anymore. But I thought he would be healthier if he breastfed, so I endured the discomfort and weird feelings I felt everytime I breastfed him.
  • Can't Comb my hair: since having a baby, I only Comb my hair once a week, kidding haha. How else could I come my hair? My hair is always in a bun and tied up because I prioritize my baby over combing it. :-D
  • Sleeping routine: They say you're really a mom if you sleep for even one or two hours and you're still alive. Well, it's true because having a baby will seriously mess with your sleep schedule.and if your baby is awake at night and sleep in the morning. Especially if he or she can sleep but wakes up every hour crying and wants to breastfeed, you as a mom will also have a hard time falling back asleep when you wake up. So you're lucky if your baby doesn't cry at night.
  • Eating and taking a bath: Your eating routine will also be disrupted, especially if you wake up late, so when you eat, you have coffe. Breakfast, and lunch all at once hahaha. I'm still full, so I have snack for lunch in the afternoon, lol. Also, taking a bath—if you don't take a bath in the morning, especially if you're not with someone, you'll probably take a bath in the afternoon or not at all. >.<

I was still eating chilled and doing well when my husband was with me taking care of our baby because he was helping me, but when he left. I had hard time because everytime I woke up in the morning, I didn't know what to do first, whether to eat first, have coffee, or take a bath, haha.

Taking care a Toddler
Taking care of a toddler is what I struggle with the most: now, because:

  • Make it hard to put him to sleep: I have to cuddle him for a long time and sing to him before he falls asleep. Sometimes he doesn't even go to sleep, but other times I'll finish all the songs I know before he does. Lol 😆 I was just exhausted by him, hehe.
  • Wanting to go outside: He always wants to be held in my arms because he doesn't like to be out in his stroller, so my hips and back hurt when I hold him for too long.
  • It takes a long time to breastfeed: If he took a long time to suckle when he was a baby, it takes even longer now. My entire body aches and goes numb before he finishes.
  • Teething stage: This is really my biggest problem now because he bites anything he can touch, and he even bites my nipples. He has four teeth on top and two on the bottom, that's why it hurts so much I scream and cry. Because I'm breastfeeding, I have to endure it. Even if they teach me what to do when he bites while breastfeeding, it's still inevitable that he will still bite.

All my tiredness is worth it; it's important that my child grows up healthy and doesn't get sick, and especially all my tiredness is relieved with just one smile from him. Because he is my happines everyday.♡

Are there any mother's out there who can relate to all of this?

So, when you become a parent, you should be emotionally and physically prepared because parenting is no joke and not easy. If this is a job, it will last a lifetime with no breaks or day off because you are still a parent whether you are happy, tired, or angry.

Wow, I read everything and I can relate to a lot of it, although to be honest, when it comes to food during pregnancy, if it was on medical advice not to gain more than a kilo a month, but it's not so easy if you don't feel full, and drinking cold or hot beverages may be a myth. One thing that is certain is that you should avoid drinking herbal teas because there are no studies that guarantee that they have no effect on the baby's development.
Although it's true that you'll be a mom all day long and you won't stop being one no matter how you feel, knowing that every sacrifice for them and for their sake is worth it, being a first-time mom is the most beautiful experience I've ever had, because seeing them grow and develop healthily is priceless. Every experience is unique, and although mine involved a complicated delivery and almost a month in the hospital, today I am proud to be a mother. Hearing his beautiful voice say that word to me every day is sublime. Certainly, you will stop doing things you liked and enjoyed when you didn't have children, but time passes quickly and you have to make the most of it. It is a serious matter and a responsibility, but it is full of blessings and love. Thank you for describing your experience. It is very useful for those who do not yet have the joy of being mothers.
