I saw my brother's copy of 'The Alchemist' and I remembered how it was really good to read it. I was so engrossed in it that I could not drop it until I finished it. Infact, I finished it all in less than 24 hours; that book is that good. I think it's one of my favorite books of all times, so beautifully crafted! Honestly, I think I might read it again but then, that will be when I get out of this phase that I do not understand. For months, I have been finding it very hard to pick up a book, not to talk of finishing one.

I picked up a book months ago and I have been unable to finish it. It is titled 'The subtle art of not giving a fuck' and it's quite a fascinating book. I know that fact because I have read about five chapters from it and it was so good, I really do not know why I haven't finished that amazing book. Truth is that, if I pick that book up again today, I cannot continue from the sixth chapter but I would rather have to start all over again. This is so really understand the book and refresh my memory about the parts I have read before.

I don't know why it has been so hard to pick up that book. I should have finished at least six books this year and I haven't even been able to complete one. I get so caught up with so many activities that I forget I have a book to read. Gradually, it left my list of priorities and it gets harder day by day. I think I will have to consciously make an effort to get back to the game. If not, this year will just pass and I wouldn't have read any book. That will make me feel so bad, because I actually love reading books so much.

I am curious though, I wonder if this is a thing that happens or if I am just the problem. I can literally finish a book in 24 hours if I want to and now, it is taking months to finish a book. I want to make it make sense, but I am unable to, I will just make do with what I have. Reading can be so therapeutic and I really miss it. I will be working on this problem of mine and maybe share my progress with you😊

Thanks for reading ❤️

Story of my life, girl. Story of my life!
Reading is now a chore. I don't know why I can't pick a book and read through. Same me that would usually have run through at least 13 books by the third month of the year.

You will not believe how many I have read this year. Take a guess. Okay, I'll save you the trouble....just one. One! And that was "Americanah by Chimamanda." Even reading through that one was a struggle. I hate it for me. I really do.

I've had to pick up some books this year, but I always feel too exhausted after the first few pages irrespective of how good the book is. Infact, I don't know anymore.

Meanwhile, I literally screamed at tye sight of Paulo Coelho's "Alchemist." I love love that book so much. Gave me some lasting paradigm. Very awesome read.

First of all, I feel slightly better that I am not in this alone.

Reading is now a chore

This right here ehn!🥺 I don't even understand why it is so, I really do hope we get out of this phase soon, I dislike it as much as you do.

And oh my God! You have read the Alchemist! That book is sooooo good😊😊 really worth reading again.

I think that all of us who love reading, at some point this happens to us and that has a definite name: it is called Reader's Block and no doubt arises from the multiple activities you perform in the day, stress also plays an important role in this block.

When you decide to resume the book you have not finished, do it from the beginning as you said, set goals, for example, in one day I plan to read 5 chapters and so little by little you will resume the habit and also try that when you go to read, there is nothing to intrude your reading.

Go ahead, you can overcome this blockage.

Oh wow, I didn't know there was a term for it, thanks for the enlightenment.

Thank you so much for the tips as well, I will definitely work hard to overcome my reader's block as soon as possible.
