Russian forces evacuating town near occupied nuclear plant, Kyiv says
Hello Deep Dives! It's becoming so real that an attack on the Zaporizhizhia nuclear plant will pose serious catastrophy in Ukraine, Russia and other neighbouring countries around the plant.
As battle get intensed in Bakhmut, Kyiv have reported that Russian forces are evacuating town near the occupied nuclear plant. Those this guarantees victory for Ukraine, whose forces have started her counteroffensive operations in Russian held southern Ukraine?
In its morning update, Ukraine's General staff said Russian forces were evacuating local Russian passport-holders to the port city of Berdyansk and the town Prymorsk, both on the coast of the Sea of Azov.
Meanwhile, the first set of people that the Russian military is evacuating are the people who accepted Russian citizenship in the early stage of the war.
The head of the U.N.'s nuclear power watchdog said on Saturday the situation around the station, Europe's largest, has become "potentially dangerous".
Both sides have accused one another of shelling the plant and efforts to secure a safety zone around it have failed.
It's obvious that whatever that happens to the Zaporizhizhia nuclear plant tends to be dangerous to innocent citizens who occupy and safety is demanded to reduce the casualties in case there's an explosion from the plant.
In March, Russia unleashed a barrage of missiles on Ukrainian cities late Wednesday night, killing at least six people and taking out critical infrastructure across 10 regions, local authorities said.
The attack knocked out power across parts of Ukraine, including at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station. Ukrainian grid operator Ukrenergo said the facility was connected back to the power grid by midday Thursday.
Why is Zaporizhizhia Nuclear Plant Important
Zaporizhizhia nuclear plant is very important in this war because it serves as the largest supplier of electricity to Europe producing about 6,000 megawatts of electricity daily. Taking control of it means crippling both the Ukrainian and most European countries economy that depends on the nuclear plant for electricity.
We all know how important power supply is to any economy both developed and developing economies. In the process of battling for the control of southern Ukraine, the Zaporizhizhia nuclear plant have been tampered with, which could lead to nuclear holocaust that's capable to destroy thousands or millions of lives in the area and it's neighborhood.
With the said damage on the nuclear plant, evacuation is necessary to save the lives of innocent citizens living in and around the nuclear plant.
I'm not an expert, but it's not possible to secure the power plant?
I think if it's possible to secure the nuclear plant, the UN wouldn't encourage the evaluation of the people.
