Rape
Hello Deep Dives platform!
Today, I bring to you one of the ravaging menace in our society and the world at large. This topic has cost many to be depressed, while others ve had suicidal tendencies date today stigmatization people around them rain on them. What is the take on the matter of rape and and how do you intend to help victims of rape. Before we look at other aspects of rape, let's define the term rape.
What is rape?
Rape is a type of sexual assault involving sexual intercourse or other forms of sexual penetration carried out against a person without their consent. The act may be carried out by physical force, coercion, abuse of authority, or against a person who is incapable of giving valid consent, such as one who is unconscious, incapacitated, has an intellectual disability, or is below the legal age of consent.
I'm so impressed bye the above definition because it gives a holistic and concise approach so the sexual menace. The fact that one is kajol to indulge in sex doesn't mean that the person has consented to the act if he or she doesn't have the requisite knowledge about the act.
My major challenge isn't on the definition of rape of rape but on the consequences that follows after the act many have suffered and even died due to this ravaging evil.
Stigmatization against rape victims
One of the great evil done done against rape victims is the stigmatization they receive from Friends, family and other loved ones. These are people they would want to share their pain, frustration and the evil that was metted on them. Sometimes even those who are accomplice to the incident will also stigmatize rape victims.
A rape victim that came out to share her story of how she was raped severally said that even when she told her mum over and over again about the ugly incident her mum didn't believe her. This is very depressing and could lead to suicide if not taking care of as early as possible.
What can be done about this?
Most parents and guidance in low income countries, don't teach your children sex education and this this has affected them so much. Sex education as a way of informing the children or child about the dangers of rape and other sexual violence.
I think more awareness should be done in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions to help people know the implications and dangers rape.
The deter others from engaging in the act of rape courts should prosecute those who are found guilty of the crime against humanity.
Victims of rape should be taken to rehabilitation homes to help them recover from depression and other killer instincts.
Family members should accept and care for victims to protect them from further victimization and stigmatisation. This is because the family is supposed to be their refuge.
