2026 World Cup: Group Defined, Will Brazil Face Difficulties?

The wait is over! This Friday, the 2026 World Cup draw took place, and of course I made time to watch it, because we're always curious to know if our national team will be in a strong or weak group. It's also important to follow the other countries and always hope not to be in a group of death.

In this edition, quite different from the previous ones, we will have 48 countries divided into 12 groups. The top two from each group will qualify directly for the round of 16. The eight best third-placed teams will have to face a knockout round to fill the four remaining spots.

Anyone who follows and loves good football knows that Brazil had a dismal December in recent World Cups. From eliminations to absurd defeats, today if you ask any Brazilian if they have hope of winning the Hexa (sixth World Cup title), the answer might be very different than if you asked at least 10 years ago.

Brazil is in Group C, which also includes Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland. Their first match will be against Morocco on June 13th. After that, they will face Haiti and finally, Scotland. Everyone knows how much of a surprise Morocco was in the 2022 World Cup, reaching the semi-finals for the first time in the country's history. Currently, the Moroccan team is the leader in the African ranking. So Brazil won't have an easy time in this group.

Haiti has essentially no World Cup experience; the last time they competed in the FIFA tournament was in 1974. The country had the second-worst performance among all the qualified teams so far. Despite facing difficulties in the CONCACAF qualifiers, they managed to secure their place. For Brazil, they will not be a worthy opponent and could have an easy victory.

Scotland, on the other hand, has had several World Cup appearances, quite different from Haiti. But the last time the Scots were in this tournament was 28 years ago. Never in the history of the national team has the country progressed beyond the group stage, in fact, the last time they played was in the 1998 World Cup in France, and Brazil won 2-1. I was still a child, but I remember that game. Let's see how they fare this time in Group C.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti isn't guaranteeing Neymar a place in the squad, which is worrying because he's our only true star, but his performance in recent years hasn't pleased everyone. Group C seems like an easy challenge for Brazil, but we know that in the World Cup, we can't underestimate our opponent. The last editions proved that, but to be honest, I don't believe we'll win our sixth title. Throughout all these years we've had coaching changes and terrible performances. There's still time for Ancelotti to change this situation, but I don't believe he'll win the title. I hope I'm wrong next year.

A espera acabou, nesta sexta-feira, aconteceu o sorteio da Copa do Mundo de 2026 e claro que arrumei um tempo para acompanhar, pois a gente sempre fica curioso para saber se nossa Seleção ficará em um grupo forte ou fraco. Também é importante acompanhar os outros países e sempre torcer para não estar em um grupo da morte.

Nesta edição, bem diferente das últimas que antecederam, teremos 48 países onde serão divididas em 12 grupos. Os dois melhores de casa chave de grupo estarão classificados diretamente para as oitavas de final. Já os os oitos melhores terceiros colocados terão que enfrentar um mata-mata para ocupar as quatro vagas remanescentes.

Brasil Terá Vida Fácil?

Quem acompanha e é amante de um bom futebol, sabe que o Brasil nas últimas Copas teve um dezembro pífio. De eliminações a eliminações absurdas, hoje se pergunta para qualquer brasileiro se ele tem esperança de ganhar o Hexa, a resposta pode ser bem diferente se perguntasse há pelo menos 10 anos atrás.

O Brasil está no grupo C, além dele estará também Marrocos, Haiti e Escócia. A estreia será contra o Marrocos no dia 13 de junho. Depois vai encarar o Haiti e por fim, jogará contra a Escócia. Todos sabem o quanto Marrocos foi uma bela surpresa na Copa de 2022, pela primeira vez na história do país, chegou até a semifinal. Atualmente a equipe marroquina é o líder do ranking africano. Então o Brasil não terá uma vida tão fácil nesse grupo.

O Haiti basicamente não tem experiência na Copa do Mundo, a última vez que ele disputou o torneio da FIFA, foi em 1974. O país teve o segundo pior desempenho entre todos os classificados até agora. Apesar de ter enfrentado dificuldades nas eliminatórias da Concacaf, conseguiu garantir sua vaga. Para o Brasil, não será um adversário a altura e poderá ter uma vitória tranquila.

Já a Escócia, já teve algumas participações de Copa do Mundo, bem diferente do Haiti. Mas a última vez que os escoceses estiveram neste torneio, foi há 28 anos. Nunca na história da seleção do país passou da fase de grupos, inclusive, a última vez que jogou, foi na Copa da França, em 1998 e o Brasil venceu por 2 - 1. Eu ainda era criança, mas lembro desse jogo. Vamos ver como vai se sair dessa vez no grupo C.

Neymar irá para a Copa do Mundo?

O técnico Carlo Ancelloti não garante Neymar entre os convocados e isso é preocupante, pois temos apenas ele como um craque, mas seu desempenho nos últimos anos não vem agradando a todos. Neymar é sim a nossa esperança, mas ele precisa merecer e para isso, deve buscar o seu melhor para mostrar a todos que ele tem condições de estar na copa.

Sem o nosso principal nome para a Copa, as esperanças serão depositadas em Vinícius Júnior e no Estevão. O primeiro já consagrado e até eleito melhor do mundo atualmente, poderá nos ajudar já que o técnico o conhece muito bem. O garoto Estevão está mostrando o seu grande potencial para o mundo jogando agora no Chelsea. Os ingleses não faziam ideia de quem era, mas agora eles conhecem o tão talentoso é o jovem jogador.

O grupo C parece ser um desafio tranquilo para o Brasil, mas sabemos que na Copa do Mundo, não podemos subestimar nosso adversário. As últimas edições provou isso, mas sendo bem sincero, não acredito que teremos nossa sexta conquista. Durante todos esses anos tivemos trocas de técnicos e desempenhos terríveis. Tempo ainda tem para Ancelloti mudar esse panorama, mas não acredito no título. Espero estar enganado ano que vem.
