Playoffs Week 9 Results | 25W-14L-1P | +1.918 Units Profit

This is a weekly overview of my personal sports betting/trading results on teams from the Belgian Jupiler League, documenting my journey toward long-term profit with some insights on my overall approach.

Week 9 of the playoffs turned out to be the most profitable week of the season with a very solid +1.918 units profit and many winners across the board. This now right at the end puts me at a profit again on the season and I can already say that I avoided my first ever losing year all without any form of chasing. In fact I would say the opposite as I tend to get more conservative if I'm down and if the facts indicate that the edge just isn't that big.

One of the matches I covered was a Women's game on the last day of the season which had high stakes and a clear 'Win Condition' as the 2 teams battling for the title played each other. I was kind of confused how unadjusted the lines were based on the situation and I managed to earn 0.469 units on that match with just 0.2 units at risk. It made me think I should put some more focus on the women league next season as in the end I'm here to make profit and that looks like where the money is at. I know that I'm able to watch at least 1 full match each weekend in that league.

Pre-Game Preview Bets Season 2024-2025

I had 1 confident bet on the weekend which was Club Brugge to win against Anderlecht and I picked up the logic in one of the podcasts that I listen to showing that it does pay to not only watch the games but also listen to what others have to say. It however, remains a season where these bigger bets underperformed causing quite the overall hit. For next season I likely will lower my gap between bigger and smaller stakes increasing one and decreasing the other as there is enough indication that the 'low edge winners' are better than my perceived 'high edge value bets'. At the same time, I did crush the average closing lines on these bigger bets so for all I know it's all just some random variance.

That is one of the difficulties with betting in that you only know after a big sample of bets that you actually were profitable which might take years. By the time that confirmation is there, things already might have turned around.

Season 2024-2025 Personal Betting Chart

One of the things I wonder is how much the fact that I was down after the regular season game me the drive and motivation to focus on these playoffs which ended up so far with a really solid +5 units of profit. I do know that it for sure has an influence when I'm up a lot an when things go easily as that tends to drop my focus a bit. I guess it's a lesson I take into the next season to always have the same focus and motivation regardless how well or bad the season has gone so far.

I'm now up +1.517 units on the season which kind of shows that if I keep grinding in a disciplined way, things will always trend to the upside in the long term. The key remains to never snap and always make sure that I can keep going. There is one more week to go plus 2 more matches and if anything I will make sure that I end the season in the green not taking risk to lose -1.5 units on the week which is also something that only happened twice this season in 40 weeks.
