Yesterday was one of those days where I got some lucky breaks only ending up with a -0.13 unit loss while it could and maybe even should have been closer to a -0.7 unit loss. So I'm happy to take it and move on to the weekend trying to get bets that have a positive expected value. This starts today in the Standard vs Kv Mechelen Match...

Standard vs Kv Mechelen

Both are teams that don't really have the finances to do big transfers and I see them as quads that have mediocre player quality. They need to make up for this in other ways. For Standard, this manifests itself in a team that has shown good fighting power which surprisingly got them to take 4 on 6 against Genk and Club Brugge in matches where they combined just had 0.77xg. Mechelen was way better than I expected away against Club Brugge taking a 1-1 which also could have been a loss, but in the home match against Westerlo they got punished and were lucky to score twice as Westerlo who had a 0-2 lead at HT got sloppy. They have a defensive-minded coach who makes up for the lack in quality and with Lauberback in the attack, they arguable always play with 10 vs 11. I would be surprised if this match turned out in a wide open offensive-mineded match with the teams having the needed quality to also finish the chances. More likely I see Standard once again bring the fighting power lacking quality to actually create much against Mechelen who put priority on keeping the sheets clean while lacking quality to really hurt Standard on the counters. If goals come, I see it being the results of stupid Penalties, Deflected shots, major Goalkeeper or defender mistakes instead of actually played out chance that get finished. I also think both might not be unhappy with a draw. So my bets for this match are 0.4 units on Under 2.75 @ 2.000, 0.1 unit on 1H Under 1.25 @ 1.780, & 0.2 units on Standard Team Total Under 1.5 @ 1.880 also taking a small crypto bet on that one over at sportbet.one. I also took 0.2 units on Under 10 Corners @ 1.880. Standard only managed to create 4 so far in their 2 matches.
