The match yesterday kind of played out as I anticipated bit with a 0-1 score at the end and a red card for AA Gent it screwed up a couple bets in the end making me lose a minimum which I gladly settle for. It also goes to show how difficult it is to actually get in with size and confidence. So on Saturday with 3 matches, the cautious grind continues...
Dender vs Sint-Truiden
Dender is still last and got themselves in a losing streak again after they had a period where things didn't look hopeless. They still try to make the gap workable but now at 8 points and some of the other teams picking up form, it again just looks really bad. The thing is that at times they show good things but never 90 minutes and they aren't good enough when falling behind. In their last home match they started weak and got quickly 0-2 behind which was followed by an away match where they were really focused at the start which created and under match. Last week away against OHL they started out again willing to go forward and quickly made the 0-1. I do expect them starting with high energy and a drive forward today. Stvv were helped by the ref last week on pitch conditions that didn't suit them because of the snow. The week howevern they took a deserved 0-4 win against a poor Westerlo showing that the 0-2 loss at home against Charleroi was an anomaly in an otherwise solid season. They are 2-in 2nd place and sure of playoff 1 and as long as their A-Squad stays fit there is no reason that they would have a collapse in the remaining matches during the regular season. I expect Dender to come out with high energy and stvv who try to control this situation knowing that it will only last that long. Stvv has been underrated all season and it feels like this continues to be the case. Dender is starting to get in a spot of desperation which more than often turns in a continued downtrend with lower and lower confidence. I took 0.3 units on
Sint-Truiden -0.25 @ 1.837 along with 0.1 unit on
Sint-Truiden Team total Over 1.5 @ 2.00 boh with an eye to possibly increase the stake in-game as I can see a scenario where odds go up or Dender even scores first. I'm also keeping an eye out for Dender 1st half corners but I need to get some confirmation first for that one.
Club Brugge vs OH Leuven
Club Brugge this season showed that their focus is in the Champions League while they tend to 'get the job done' in the league without this ever being convinvingly. they are inbetween Champions League matches putting up a good performance against Atletico and in a position where they can pull a stunt potentially. So I do expect a combination of players their mind aleady on Tuesday and also likely some rotation from the coach. Their ideal scenario would be to make the difference early with a couple of goals and control afterward saving energy. However, it's rarely as easy as this and much more likely is a scenario where they don't really convince again and if they win it will be a case of 'getting the job done'. OHL since schrijvers got back from injury have been a bit more solid and have shown better things. They were a bit lucky last week to get away with a 3-2 score even though it was deserved. The week before, they won with a 1-3 score agains AA Gent in a match where they were efficient and didn't give too much away. I fully expect them to focus on defense and the counters today and I'm not so sure that Club Brugge will have an easy time to break that. I see some possible edge on the under and the underdog with a narrow home win as the most likely outcome where Brugge really feels the influence of being inbetween champions League matches. OH Leuven +1.5 @ 1.909 leaving me some room to add more in-game.
Union SG vs Antwerp
Union is still 1st in the league, but they have show some signs of slight decline especially away as the many matches added up. this time around though, they had a full week off and I expect them to be ready and motivated to get in a good performance. They have some injury worreis with Scherpen, Leysen, Floricz, Niang but those are mostly reducing their options on the bench while the starting A-Squad is still solid. They have gotten quite heaving handicaps at home but these are starting to come down as in recent matches they only won by a 1-goal margin failing to cover them. Overall though at home, they are 9W-2L against their handicaps. Antwerp after a temporary streak with better results is back to being a pretty bad team and also last week they lost deserved to Westerlo, while the match before they got trashed by Anderlecht in the cup standing no chance. They now dropped back to 11th place in the league and need to start looking down which will bring about more stress. They also picked up some injuries with Somers, Van Helden, Benitze and Adekami leaving thel with limited options off the bench. I would not be surprised to see a superior Union today, and Antwerp as no match to them after 90 minutes. The numbers show that Antwerp is an under Away team at 1W-10L-1P on the over closing total, both also have rather low xg against at 0.87 & 1.19 in the last 4 matches. I am willing to back Union today and would not be surprised at all if this one turned out in a rare blowout home win. I took a speculative 0.06 unit bet on
Union -3 @ 8.167 along with 0.13 units on
Union 1st Half -0.5 @ 1.903 & 0.16 units on
Union -1.25 @ 1.900. This has me 0.35 units at risk with plenty of room to take more bets in-game at potentially better lines.
