TheBelgian League restarts today and it was nice to have some time off and regain some excitement after having a rather difficult time in the weeks before to find a good edge on the market. I don't expect it to be easy from here on out but I'm surely looking forward to it and will give it my best as always without taking a lot of risk until I get to the point where I really feel like I'm able to really have a significant edge on the market.
Standard vs Zulte-Wagregem
Standard was a team that had some sparks first when their new coach was assigned, but eventually things regressed to the mean again and it shows that the overall quality of their team, especially given many injuries is not up there to be a playoff 1 contender. In their last match they kind of got dominated by Stvv even though it only ended in a 1-0 score. It showed that they are ok in defense but lack scoring ability. Their last home match against Charleroi ended in a surprisingly high 3-1 score which came out of just 1.37xg from Standard who were extremely efficient that day. Things however started slow and an own goal was needed for the first goal along with a unlikely distance shot that went in for the 1-1. They are a team who at times are capable to show good things expecially at home but overall just aren't good enough which mainly refelcts in their xg where they rank last in the last 4 weeks at just 0.73 on average and 2nd last overall at just 0.94xg. Zulte-Waregem started the season with the intentions to play lesss open and forward compared to their season in 2nd division and have managed quite well now sitting in 8th place with not much to lose. Especially on the xg against, they have been too high at 2.59xg in the last 4 on average and 1.74 overall which makes them rank dead last. I do think that this is now seen as one of their main working points and I don't expect a match today where they just will freely go forward. They have been rather efficient so far this season scoring 21 goals out of an 1.16xg average over 14 matches as they have the current top striker Erenbjerg. I do think for this match that the high average xg against both teams have (1.50 & 1.74) won't be as decisive as the low xg for both teams have (0.94-1.16) while at the same time I can't really say the odds are totally wrong. I do expect a rather cautious start of the match where both teams aren't really willing to leave much space or take risks. I took 0.2 units on
1st Half Under 1 @ 2.130, along with 0.2 units on Under 2.75 @ 1.835, and 0.1 unit on Under 2.5 @ 2.127
