So far so good this week as I'm up over 0.4 units mainly thanks to a bet on Genk as the big underdog in Europe which ended up as a winner (shared in the SBC Discord as always). Betting though, remains a major challenge as I'm nearly always torn between going for 'value' or 'respecting the market' which most of the time is spot on and gives the winners. Yesterday was a prime example as the team who has not yet won a match in the league was the favorite against one of the revelations. While the underdog ended up with half a win, the xg painted a picture that Dender could/should have taken their first win on the season. Cercle Brugge vs OH Leuven
Cercle Brugge is currently only in 14th place with 12 points and remain in a bad flow when it comes down to their results even though their play isn't that bad and they do have potential. The one thing with them is that they tend to get a bit tired near the end of the match which costs them at times. At the same time, especially at home they manage to create quite some xg at 2.36-2.44-2.32-1.83 in their last 4 and I see them getting to a point where they do pick up with a good streak at some point. At the same time in those matches, they also got 1.70-1.88-2.01-1.32xg against. However, right now they still are in a bad momentum while they are the big -0.5 favorite on the betting market. OHL got a new coach with Mazzu and the first sign is that it did create some kind of Shock effect with a 1-3 win in the cup over serain (where especially at the start they looked better but struggled later despite the score) and a 4-0 win at home against AA Gent where they played classic Mazzu defensive style on the counter scoring at 200% while not seeing the 2.32xg from AA Gent being converted. So purely on results momentum, OHL +0.5 is the way to go, but based on quality and what the market indicates, Cercle would be the play. I can see a match where Cercle Brugge starts out putting in a ton of effort and as the team who takes all the initiative while OHL just defends and hopes to once again score at 100% on the counters they are getting. This should be a setup for Cercle to be the team who creates the corners. OHL also lost their corners in the last 3 matches by a combined 6-26, Cercle at the same time has not been a massive corners team but still are 9-5 in their last 3. OHL Team Total Over 1 @ 1.970 and I'm also looking at the Both To Score. My lean though despite this remains on Cercle To Win the match today.
Charleroi vs Westerlo
Charleroi is currently in a bad streak and they are lacking scoring power mainly. Last week, they lost a with 3-1 to Standard while the week before, they took a somewhat surprising 1-0 win against Anderlecht in a match where they were pushed back but still got the better chances. Thanks to a goalkeeper error they took the win at the end. The 3 weeks before, they took 3 losses (3-1 vs Union, 2-1 vs Gent, 0-2 vs Mechelen) in matches where at times they showed potential. They do tend to crawl back when they are in the league and their coach is trying now to switch goalkeekeeper to turn the momentum around. Westerlo is a strange team at times showing good things but other times still giving it away too easily. Last week, they were on par with Genk but 1 defensive mistake combined with unlikely finishing screwed them with a 0-1 loss. The week before, they didn't get further than a 1-1 draw against Dender after instantly falling behind 0-1 and them being the slight better team overall. Away against La Louviere, they were kept at a 0-0 draw in a low risk match from both teams. Their recent matches have been in contrast of their reputation as being an over team and their xg against also have been rather low at 0.86-1.4-0.56-0.85 in their last 4 while the xg created by Charleroi has only been 1.75-1.12-0.72-0.44-0.62-1-1.03 in the last 7 matches. This made me most comfotable with a 0.3 unit bet on
Charleroi Team Total Under 1.5 @ 1.988. I also had to take a 0.2 unit bet on
Westerlo +0.5 @ 1.930 which I feel is just too high as I do see Westerlo as at least equal in quality and the draw given the standings might not be a bad result for both. The fear to lose might be a bit bigger for both compared to the will to win. Finally I also could not results a 0.1 unit bet on
1H Under 1.25 @ 1.830 which feels a bit too high.
Antwerp vs La Louviere
Antwerp has been one of the weakest teams in the league and their rookie coach has made quite the bad impression. The only real reason I would say that he is still on is because the chance of relegation is minimal while Antwerp likely doesn't want to pay the fee to get their coach fired hoping for a miraculous turnaround. However, it does feel like his days are numbered and today is the ultimate match where not winning will likely seal his deal. So the question also is how much the players still stand behind him which I can't see at least some wanting a change since Antwerp needs it. Their play has been way too defensive and not inspired. The pressure will also be on in this match which might paralyse them more and I would not be surprised if this turned into another just poor overall performance, while there is a chance that it will be the complete opposite. La Louviere has been a positive surprise as one of the new teams who play with confidence and most of all know how to keep their defense in place. This got them multiple 0-0 scores and their are without a loss in their last 8 matches! It would come as a big surprise to me if Antwerp all of a sudden would put up a great performance and La Louviere showed to be very vulnerable defensively. So I took 0.2 units on
La Louviere +0.25 @ 2.037. I can see a scenario where Antwerp from the start wants to go forward at home in front of their fans which likely will make them create some corners. I took a 60 USDC Crypto bet on
