Jupiler League Season 2025-2026 | Transfer Updates

2025-2026 Broadcasting Drama
Similar to 5 years ago, there is some drama around the Tv Rights and broadcasting on the Belgian League here in Belgium. Dazn paid a lot (probably too much) for the rights and they previously broadcasted it both on their app or on some oif the Belgian tv Channels which can easily be watched on tv after paying a subscription without the need for an app or streaming. So now this contract needs to be renewed but Dazn wants more people paying them directly on the app. There already was talk that there will be no more highlights show on tv and that the news channels also can't use the images anymore. So it's pretty much a power play for more money with the viewer as the main victim.
Ideally there still will be a deal but it's already ruled out that the 1st week will be shown on tv and only to those who have a Dazn subscription.
Transfer Updates:
Club Brugge: After a year where they had the best team in many years, multiple key players made and are looking to make a transfer. De Cuyper, Jutgla, Talbi, and bench player Nielsen already left and Jashari also wants to leave. Vanaken is also getting a year older and some others might also still league. They attracted Tresoldi (20) as a centrum Striker for 6 Million and Reis (25) as a central Midfieler dor 6 Million. It remains to be seen how quickly they will integrate properly in the team. I do expect Brugge to be valued as the big favorite again similar to last season with no real adjustment to the line which might give some betting options.
Genk They hit the Jackpot selling Bonsu Baah for 17M to Al Qadasiya. They already lost Pender to Chelsea and he won't come back. In terms of Incoming Transfers, Heymans should be a good offensive minded midfieler who might come in off the bench with some good scoring power. They attracted a new goalkeeper with Lawal and he might start off the bench initially. Yokoyama as a left winger came from Birmingham. Unlike last season they will have European load which might make it a lot harder for them.
Anderlecht: Plenty of transfers for Anderlecht. They lost Edozie & Dendoncker already with some other players that also might leave or need to leave and Vertonghen ended his career. They did multiple transfers mainly with the aim to buy youngh players as a gamble to sell them for more later one. Keita came from a German 3rd division team which feels like a gamble. Llansana came from Go Aheard who was a revelation there, Union also wanted him but could give a lower salary. Camara came from Standard, Cvetkovic from Cukaricki and Saliba from Montreal. So plenty of transfers already all affordable players with a big question mark how they actually will perform.
Union : Both Machida & Sadiki left while Goalkeeper Morris was transfered to Al-Khaleej. In terms of incoming transfers they got Zorgane from Charleroi who is one of the better midfielders in Belgium and Florucz from Olimpija. So it looks like quality over Quantity. Since they play Champions League it might cost them points in the league this season.
Other Teams
It looks like AA Gent got a capable striker with Kanga but otherwise there haven't been that many big transfers.
Antwerp again lacks money this season and lost a key payer with Chery. Daam Foulon should be a good alternative for Deman who also went back to the team he was loaned from.
Looks like there are many leavers again for Cercle who might not fully be ready at the start of the season.
Charleroi with European football saw some key players leave in the midfield (zorgane & Heymans) and I would not be surprised to see them having a difficult start especially in the offense.
Dender who go into their 2nd season after being promoted which oftentimes is much harder managed to keep Scheidler but there has not been too many movements.
Mechelen still has money problems which shows in the fact that they took a cheap coach and only really do transfers that doesn't cost anything. I expect a more difficult season for them compared to what they expect?
La Louvierre somehow managed to get in the 1st League but look not fully ready for what I can tell.
OHL had a bad season despite having players that should be good enough. I would not be surprised if the team dynamic would be better this season.
Stvv were not ready last season but thesy should look better this time around as they attracted Sebaoui. They might miss Brahimi & Fujita.
Plenty of changes in Standard but I expect the same problems to endure than their budget is too low for the top club that they used to be. With Nielsen, Henry, Ilaimaharitra they do have new players with potential.
Westerlo lost Vuskovic and Devine but they attracted Striker Ferri which is someone with good potential.
Finally Zulte-Waregem who is another promoted team Hedl as a new goalkeeper.
