Moon Department to close due to Federal Budget Cuts

Imagine my surprise leaving the store last night when I looked up to see the entire bottom half of the moon missing! Nobody in the Moon Department told me a total eclipse was on the schedule, presumably because everyone in the Moon Department has been laid off due to federal budget cuts.

I went back outside at midnight to witness it in its totality. Portland skies were kind enough to clear away the clouds. Here are some incredibly crappy photos taken with my phone because I was in no mood to lug out my camera and tripod and sacrifice precious time in the present.

Sources say that celestial events will resume as planned for both the foreseeable and unforeseeable future regardless of whether or not these events make it to our Google calendars.
