The danger of weaponizing Ai and robots

The act of war since the inception of the world has always been because of man's desire for conquest and enlargement of territory.

Right from the time of old nations and kingdoms, there were always trained soldiers to protect their citizens and also to be deployed in terms of war, either on peacekeeping missions or to help protect their territory.

In recent times technology has tried to do its groundbreaking research, especially with the introduction of AI and robots. This has made monsters a lot easier and more efficient.

The use of robots and artificial intelligence for war purposes is not actually a great idea. From my opening statement, you see that if robots are sent to war, then man's desire for conquest will not be achieved because robots are not human, and the reason why nations and kingdoms would want to expand is so they can have more territory to govern and more people.

But looking at the bright side, sending robots to war would mean man's safety, and if the rules of war were properly set, then just maybe it wouldn't be so bad at all. If there were rules and regulations that if a nation's robots and artificial intelligence lost a war to another nation's artificial intelligence, then the nation that lost would be under the nation that won, then it could be a possibility.

But who will set the rules for war, as wars are always triggered by one nation's actions for the other?

However it may seem, war was originated by men as a means to either expand territory or exercise dominance, so why drag machines into it?

A lot of lives and properties are lost during war, both military personnel and civilians, so why put millions of dollars into a robot or AI just to destroy it during a war? Because artificial intelligence and robots are expensive to build.

A better use of robots and artificial intelligence in combat will be to use them against hardened criminals and terrorist groups putting the world in a state of chaos.

For me, these technologies in AI and robots should be channelled towards fostering peace in the world and not using them as tools for causing destruction. Besides, if the technology falls into the wrong hands, it could mean doom for the rest of the world.

Because the right tools in the wrong hands could be a tool by which evil people gain control over the world.
