Cleared of a crime I didn't commit

Some years back, after I registered with a company that was into the installation of CCTV cameras and other forms of surveillance, I was supposed to stay at the office for some time to familiarize myself with most of the tools because the company was also into sales.

There was a very big dealer of computers and computer accessories just at the next block from where our office was, and there seemed to be a pretty mutual relationship between the manager and my boss at the office.

A few weeks after I started work, that computer brand was moving out due to the fact that they had gotten another place, and then the manager of the place came to our office, and from the conversation he was having with the sales rep in our company, I found out he was the manager, and as a young boy who just finished learning CompTIA+, I decided to connect with him for future purposes.

My boss wasn't around, so the manager called him, asking if I could assist them in bringing down something that they needed to pick up. My boss, being a good friend, obliged, so I followed him to the building where some computer accessories were being packed after the pack-up. I saw a laptop bag that looked okay; only the zip was already bad.

I asked the manager if I could take it, and he said yes, so I happily took the bag and left. Later that day, I got a call from the manager saying there was a Dell laptop that was returned after a customer bought it for less than 24 hours. The laptop developed an issue, and so it was returned, and they had to give the client another one.

Since they bought directly from the company, they were planning to return the laptop, but then the laptop was now missing, and then they were looking for it, so I was suspended for having stolen the laptop in the bag I was given.

Good enough, I showed the bag to the sales rep at my office, and I opened it, and it was caught on the CCTV camera, which was in the office, but still the manager didn't believe me and followed me to my place, and I showed him where I kept the bag and where my things were.

After about 3 days of looking for the laptop, they involved the police, and after a lot of threats, the security guys in the building who took the laptop went to hide it somewhere in the building, and that's how my name was cleared from that scandal.

This is my response to the #weekendexperience topic 5, which says, "What is the most complicated situation you've dealt with that has worked out in your favor?" Explain.

Thank you for stopping by.

Yeah the police was involved I was even told not to leave town that period as any form of movement would increase the suspicion that I actually stole the laptop.
Funny enough was the fact that I got a laptop not too long before that time so what would I need a second one for and a bad one at that but in the end I was innocent.
