Lagunitas IPA for BeerSaturday and a Chicago holiday classic, a Tom and Jerry at Miller's Pub

Hello Hivers and beer lovers!
It's Saturday and time to share a beer. My first intention was to publish this post last Saturday when my friend @tengolotodo invited me to share a beer experience. But that day, when I got off the plane in Bogotá at 5 a.m., my legs were shaking after I turned on my cell phone and was flooded with messages about what was happening in my country. Since that day, I have tried to get into a pseudo-routine, which is far from normal, to be honest, and I haven't been able to stop paying attention to the news there, therefore I haven't been in the mood to be here. But after a week, I think it's healthy for me to focus on other things, so this second Saturday of the year is my first post in the #beersaturday initiative in 2026.
After our first walk through downtown Chicago and visiting the Christkindlmarket on a clear sky night in mid-December, we decided to walk to a classic bar in Chicago's Loop, Miller's Pub.

The pub was packed with lots of people with reservations waiting for a table, but we weren't going to eat and just wanted to have a drink at the bar, so we went in without waiting. It was beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations, and we miraculously found a place to sit at a small bar next to a window.

I ordered a Lagunitas IPA, a beer that is quite popular there for those who like IPAs, as I do.
For me, it was the perfect drink to round off a wonderful evening.

Lagunitas IPA according to the manufacturer's description,
A well-rounded, Highly drinkable India Pale Ale. A bit of Caramel Malt barley provides the richness that mellows out the twang of the hops, including Cascade, Centennial, Chinook and a splash of honorary “C” hop, Simcoe.
For me, it was a great choice—a full-bodied beer that was easy to drink.

My son, on the other hand, went with the idea of trying a Miller's Pub classic during the holidays, the warm cocktail Tom and Jerry.
According to the bar menu, it has
An eggnog variantwith brandy, dark rum, powdered sugar, egg whites, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.

It was tasty, but perhaps too sweet for me; I think I prefer traditional eggnog. Although it's definitely perfect for warming up on a freezing winter night in Chicago.
This is my entry to #BeerSaturday week 445.
Thank you for reading. Cheers 🍻

Ohh, it looks sweet indeed. I wis h I could try that here in Ph. The only beers that I can take here, so it won't torture my taste buds are those flavored beers or light beers. But for the dark or strong ones, I couldn't handle them.
If you like light beers, you might not like this one ;)
My best wishes to you and your loved ones in this new year that is just beginning 🤗
It's great that you decided to post about this experience and share your positive feelings about this beer. Personally, I like the design of the can ☺️ Cheers! 🍻🍻
Cheers🍻 Happy week!
What a good atmosphere there!!!!

The pub had a great atmosphere, although it was too crowded for me.
Un abrazo!
Oh so nice! That warm cocktail Tom and Jerry looks enticing. I know I would have loved to taste it too. 😆 Stay safe. Happy new week ahead.
