A walk along the path next to the Virrey Canal in Bogotá

Canal El Virrey - Bogotá

Today's walk took place a few months ago during my last visit to Bogotá. At that time, we were staying in an apartment very close to El Virrey Park, which I have mentioned on other occasions. Today's walk is not actually in the park itself, but rather on the footpaths that run alongside the Virrey Canal, which crosses several avenues in the city at Calle 88. It's a very tree-lined path, very pleasant for a walk, and I especially like the section of the path between Carreras 14 and 11 because, in addition to enjoying the trees and nature, there are also some very colorful murals that provide a nice contrast.

My husband and I took the walk I'm sharing with you today, not on a Wednesday but on a Monday holiday in August, hehe. But it's a nice walk to share with you on this #wednesdaywalk.

The morning was sunny, perfect for walking leisurely and enjoying the surroundings.

We took that walk slow to get a closer look at the colorful murals, which we had seen so many times but had never stopped to detail. The murals depict some of the nature that can be watch along this ecological trail.

Many portrait some of the bird species that can be seen in the surrounding area.

More than once, especially on Sundays, we have come across small groups of birdwatchers in this path.

Here the frog that caught my husband's attention.

More of the murals seen along the way.

We walked a few more blocks. There are no murals in this section of the path, but still a beautiful oasis of nature in the middle of a totally urbanized area.

It was mid-morning, and we usually ended our weekend morning walk with a coffee. This time we decided to go to Café Azahar, a nice café that wasn't too far away and that we could walk to.

In this coffeeshop, when you order one of their filter coffees, they bring you information about the origin and type of coffee bean you are going to drink. I love that about this place. As well as their orange and poppy seed cake, which is so tasty. It is subtle and not at all cloying. This cake has become one of my husband's favorites when we want to indulge our sweet tooth.

A perfect close for a nice walk.

The murals are like a little zoo, hehe. I love how colourful they are, they bring so much joy to an environment that is already beautiful in itself. The space looks very well cared for, perfect for walks like the one you're sharing with us. The orange cake looks delicious. I laughed when I read that they explain the coffee beans they're going to serve you. The last time I went to a stylish café, the waiter explained it to me just like they did to you, and my face must have been priceless. I love coffee, but I don't understand anything about it, ha ha ha. But it's so delicious! I missed your walkings, dear. A big hug.

Haha!!! I understand what you mean about the look on your face when they explained coffee beans to you in a café LOL. What I like about this coffeeshop is that they give you the information on a little card that they bring to your table, so you don't have to pretend you understand everything when they explain it to you. That way, one can learn 😆

Gracias por el apoyo y pasarte por aquí querida Paloma. Un gran abrazo!
